Gus Johnson separated shoulder

Thats what i was wondering....kinda....i didnt have a specific trade in mind.

They really like him down in SD. I doubt they are very interested in letting him go. The Sproles memories still linger.

People like you are in a sorta of denial for agenda's sake. You want to complain about things - who knows why, maybe you're not happy in your life or something - so you criticize the front office for not doing things like drafting a back. No drafted back has broken out yet, in fact many of them are already injured or are deep in the depth charts across the league.

Or maybe you wanted them to resign Murray and run him 400 times again? Brilliant. Not only did his production drop off dramatically 5+ yards per carry to 3.8 the last 4th of the season, but you actually think he would have run for 1800 yards??? LOL again.

Fact is, you don't know how our backs will do or if we will bring someone in. You just want to complain.

I wish I could like this 5 times. Staff, can we add a "Like+" button? :D

I liked Oliver, as well. Darren Sproles cloned. Regarding Gus Johnson - he is tough, can gain thoe dirty yards, but he is just too slow. Doesn't have the ability to add any quick burst, juke and miss move, is just too slow, period. And he is not Earl Campbell - time to look for another RB or hope McFadden is McFadden from ARKANSAS

I saw comparisons of his combine with others, and the best that he compared to was Mark Ingram. Everyone else on the list were either one year wonders or nobodies.

I understand there is always that one player that breaks the mold, but I just don't see anything from him that will let him succeed in the NFL.

What's wrong with Darren McFadden that he hasn't bothered playing at all yet?
What's wrong with Randle?
I understand the need to keep guys healthy for the regular season but it's hard to make the argument that they shouldn't be playing yet we see starting players on both sides of the ball who started last year playing.

The sad reality is these backs are sitting out nursing inconvenient boo boo's while none of them has actually earned any right to start. Not a single one of them. If a back from the streets comes in he could take the starting running back job from them. That means they should act like they actually want to win the position.

If I had veterans who have been to probowls on the street lobbying for my job the last thing I would want to do is take days off of work for the case of the sniffles.

I like the McFadden signing more the day he signed than today. He either feels too comfortable or he is just soft.

On short yardage and goal line he was excellent. That is all he would ever be asked to do this year.

How'd Melvin do????

ouch.

LOL Melvin would easily be our starting back right now if he was with the Cowboys. Put him behind this oline and he could quite possibly rush for over 1000 yards. Don't let the bad performance fool you. Put him behind our oline and see what happens.

I don't think McFadden feels too comfortable, he most likely only has a couple more shots with teams in this league before he gets buried on the depth chart somewhere or becomes that player people ask "Where is he now?". He's simply just injury prone, and his hammy's have always been an issue. I will not be surprised if this lingers for him into the season.

I would kick the tires on Ray Rice...

I would like to do the same but then I'd run with the hope that he has not the speed nor energy to catch me and pummel me.

Seriously, though, he has been on the decline for years so I don't see how he can help.

You may not want to talk to any Lions fans today then. They seem to be pretty excited with Ameer Abdullah.

So let's recap again.

McFadden is doing what he has done his entire career and finding ways to get injured.

Randle has looked a little above average in TC, and is also injured.

Dunbar is merely a scatback and is also injured.

Golden Boy Williams proved he has no place in the NFL.

And Johnson looks like a JAG who needs a year on the practice squad before ever even taking over the #3 spot.

All of this is a month before the season opener and we should be complacent with what we have. Maybe Clutts will be forced again to play HB and become a Peyton Hillis-like story. Here's to you, Clutts!

A very negative post and not one of your points is fact. Also I guess you missed Stephen Jones pre-game interview where he said they're ready to act, even by trade, if they feel the need.

I felt like Johnson just didn't have space to run and when he did he made the most of it.

All these jag comments and everything are crazy. He had a small sample size against a defense that was loading up to stop the run and he did a solid job and powered one in for a TD.

Ditto. Too bad about the injury. That may cost him a roster spot.

I didn't see the game but the numbers show he had a lot of work tonight... and wasn't all that impressive.
I know folks will run to his defense- as the current darling of training camp- but numbers don't lie.

You didn't watch the game is where I stopped caring.

Love those uninformed #hottakes

For those who think the sky is falling... had the Cowboys resigned Murray, he'd be out right now too. Folks in Philly are getting a little nervous.

As we all know, most guys don't play in the first preseason game. What we also know is that guys get held out for the most minor injuries because they need to be 100% by week 1.

Pump the brakes!

I live in the philly market. The fans are not worried at all about Demarco. They know that he is a productive back capable of very good things. They watched it. They also know that if he is out they still have pro bowl RB Ryan Mathews and Darren Sproles to carry the load. They are feeling pretty good about the RB's .

Now QB's they are nervous about.

And the list continues to grow.

Guys do you really think the Cowboys haven't done their homework on the used up trash that is the veteran runningback market that's out there? We like what we have better. Our top 3 backs were out all with minor injuries, if it were the regular season all three probably would have suited up, and we know what have with them, some meaningless runs in the first preseason game wouldn't have made a difference.

Tap the breaks and take a chill pill. It's preseason.

people want a familiar name to give them comfort. all these players we simply can't live without are amazing players to be sure.

just waiting, and in many cases, begging to be signed.

i can see the fascination for such...talent.

I watched it and did not see much in the running game. I look forward to getting Randle and McFadden out there.

I'm in the same boat.

But we didn't have our starting offensive line playing so hard to read anything into last night's performance.

But that wasn't what I was commenting on. Looking at stats from a preseason game and making declarative statements? Wow.

4 of our backs being injured, Dunbar being a scatback, and Williams being injured and released aren't "facts"?

"instant gratification" - in the absence of enough evidence to make a conclusion, guess based on what little you have and panic.

He was not running great even with the starting OL in the game. He is an UDFA and looked like it.

People have thrown out younger, lesser known, players names here quite a few times. It hasn't just been aging veterans.
