Gus is one of the hottest announcers out there. Believe me he would have lavished praise on Dallas if they did anything to deserve praise. It is hard to sound excited when the only thing you can add is well at least the QB wasn't sacked on that incompletion or "great job by Dallas leaving Andre Johnson all alone on that play."

I cannot figure out why fans obsess over football announcers so much.

I hardly hear them.

I think Gus Johnson is a welcome change and is good for TV. Some of you need to just mute your TVs and listen to the local homers instead on the radio.

Man, I wish I could get the local Dallas homers on the radio. In preseason, I want to know who's in and who made the play. I don't want someone slobbering over either team.

Um, for those of us who didn't like the constant hyperbole and shouting, it had nothing to do with how much he praised our team versus theirs.

For the record, I think the MNF crew does the same thing. They could call a Lions-Rams game, and if you didn't know better, you'd think every other player out there was the best in the league.

Geez. Most people loved Pat Summerall precisely because he was low key and let the game speak for itself.

I thought he was tiring. But unlike most on here I like Joe Buck. So my opinions probably won't jive with everyone else's.

I like Buck, Tirico, Al Michaels, and of course our very own Brad Sham. I prefer the guys who stick to the facts about what's going on. I don't really enjoy listening to the guys who spend the whole game cheering from the booth.

To each his own I guess.

Bingo. He's not a homer, clearly anyone thinking the guy is a homer just doesn't watch college basketball. Whether an act or not, he will praise anyone and everyone and just seems to simply love sports. He's no homer, he just acts excited over any big plays in any sports.

He really is. He made a few guest appearances for football and is now with CBS. People legitimately think of his name when they think of college basketball. Pretty clear you aren't a college basketball fan.

Oh, and his voice is in the new Madden.

I will say I do understand the other side of the argument but let's not compare Pat Summerall to Joe Buck.. that's the dumbest thing ever. There was something about Summerall's voice that made his style. Joe Buck is nowhere in Summerall's ballpark and never will be. How anyone can like Joe Buck, I'll never know.

I will say I do understand the other side of the argument but let's not compare Pat Summerall to Joe Buck.. that's the dumbest thing ever. There was something about Summerall's voice that made his style. Joe Buck is nowhere in Summerall's ballpark and never will be. How anyone can like Joe Buck, I'll never know.

Is he over the top, sure, will his head explode during March Madness some day, yes, but you can tell he loves what he does. He was genuinely happy to do a Cowboys game just like he was when he did a Tar Heel game a few years back.

I loved Summerall and still think he is the best and all will be measured against him but that is a bygone era.

Actually empathy is saying, damn I understand why he would be embarrassed, I would be if I said that. Saying was anyone else embarrassed for him is not empathy.
