Gut feeling this is Tony Pollard's last season in Dallas

I think tagging him was the signal that he is done in Dallas after this year. It looks like the league in general has just soured on the position. It is a tough situation. But I understand it. RBs are not hard to find and very few are elite game changers. Plus, it looks like 5 years is their life expectancy in the NFL. After that they look ordinary. I think the right move is to let Pollard go and use the money to keep the OL strong. It is definitely a position where GMs want to shave off some CAP dollars.

I don't see him getting a long term contract or franchised again. I suspect that Dallas will let him go and draft a guy somewhere in the top 3 rounds.
Prolly. That would most likely be our best move.

I would hate to be a RB in this league. Used and abused, thrown to the side. Would not be surprised to see the Cowboys do that to Pollard this year. Don't fault Zeke at all for that contract. Very smart business decision based on position.

I agree with this. Pollard is in his 5th year now and is probably going to take a lot of punishment this year. Next year he will be 27 and that’s about when many RBs with a lot of carries start losing some zip.

I would not offer a RB going into his 6th year next year a top of the market offer. As has been said a lot in this thread, drafting a RB on day 2 and even Day 3 can get you some good talent at RB. Pollard was taken in the 4th round 5 years ago so he’s a good example of what can be done.

I think so also unless it’s a cheap contract.
Why would Pollard (or any player) take “a cheap contract” if they could get a better deal somewhere else?

yes - he is gone after this year. Should have used him more in 2020 and 2021

Take some antacid, and call me in the morning. If your gut still feels bad, we may need to do a fecal implant.

Aside from Niners' McCaffrey (who was traded for premium picks and still has the premium contract)
- we could probably say that about any and all RBs in the NFL .

Henry trade rumors, .. Aaron Jones lessen his contract.
Barkley, Taylor and Austin Eckler barked and threaten a hold out but they could not seek out the money contract they coveted .. it's not just a Pollard thing. It's the nowadays NFL trend.

So if Pollard camp is expecting a record breaking, new long term contract, it's probably not gonna happen.

However it's been shown and proven that the Cowboys will successfully re-sign the core players they
really want to re-sign. So it's about what the Cowboys really think and evaluation of Pollard.
One of a kind, very valuable ...or dime-a-dozen ?
