How has Carson been a bright spot? Dude can’t cover well and he always seems to miss 1 on 1 tackles that leads to crucial gains. He was a bright spot in training camp, that’s it.
He has played better than any other corner outside of Lewis.

This has turned into an evaluation season . Play all the rookies and young guys.

Trade Martin and Turpin while they still have value.
All you're getting for Turpin is a 6th. Might as well keep him. He's cheap and effective as a returner/gadget guy. No team is trading for him thinking he can play WR.

I mean they have so many injuries I won't knock them for having to throw Cason into there. Had the pass rush been better he would've been better.

The rest though....

There's no way this tfront office is this stupid to think Guyton who everyone knew was raw was ready to start.

This all come back down to the timing of signing Lamb or Dak. We can argue they should've done it or not. But they did. They should've signed Dak and Lamb as early as possible and never cut Tyron. Or bring in another tackle veteran somewhere. Guyton should not have been starting and if they think him playing like this is helping him and his confidence they are foolish. Doesn't help that who knows what the OL coach is teaching him.
I don't knock them for the injuries, but I do knock them for not at least looking at other guys. Bland went down and we got the "we like our guys" speech from Jerry. With Bland down and Diggs coming off a major injury any other GM in the league would have at least worked out a few DBs or looked at DBs from other teams roster cuts. I do agree with you that had the pass rush been better the back end as a whole, Carson included, isnt getting exposed as they were, but you've got to try and protect your rookies at some point.

Strongly disagree. At this point they should play every snap. We are already looking at 2025 since 2024 is over and the more experience those guys get the better they will be.
Yeah Guyton, Carson, Schoonmaker, Mazi, ect should get as many snaps as possible. For some reason fans think LT and cornerback is easy to play. I guess 10 years of Tyron and 3 years of Deion makes those positions look easy.

Perhaps but he does not deserve to be made into some sort of scape goat. He has fought hard and has played well enough.
Hes fought hard, I still like his upside, but I dont agree that hes played well. He has played decent for a 5th round rookie who was thrown into the fire of an already bad defense. I do agree that he should not be the scape goat here, this is on Jerry for letting it get to a point where they needed to start a 5th round rookie week 1. No excuse for not grabbing a veteran CB after Bland went down and letting Carson be a rotational guy, which is a realistic path to success for a late round player.

Carson would not be playing if Bland was not hurt. And whoever the Cowboys put out there in Bland's place has been picked on. I am never buying that a 5th or 6th round pick is the steal of the draft. We saw that with Eric Scott, who was awful. Let them play and see how they do before anointing them.

Guyton is struggling but I don't think playing him is going to make him better at this point. He needs an offseason to get stronger. But he is not the only problem on the OL. I saw Asim Richards did get some snaps at LT yesterday. From the few plays I saw he did okay. Not enough to make any real judgements though.

There was a reason Carson was available. Could it be he was a bit raw? Ain't that what we see ? I think in time, like 2 years from now, he might be a decent player. But right now he's not good. He's a liability. That's the truth. Zimmer has been bad too. Not sure we are doing the new guys any justice the way Zim puts them on an island. It goes back to the way Jerry decided to not help the roster get better during free agency.

Instead of this thread being about rookies the title should be Malik Hooker and Terrence Steele “ . Get those 2 vets right off the field immediately plug in Thomas at safety and Richards at tackle. While your at it get Wilson off the field insert Bell as the other safety .

The problem is these middle of the road to substandard vets taking snaps from younger players .

I agree with Richards.. there’s no way he’d do worse than Guyton. Heck there’s even a chance Richards can be a solid LT if given the opportunity, we know Guyton will not be solid this season.

Agree with all of the above except we are playing for 2026-2027.

Aside from Dak and MM struggling, these two rookies should not see the field again in 2025…

Guyton kills drives with either penalties or sacks.

Carson when playing gets cooked religiously.
And he can’t tackle…

Strange. There was a ton of pre-season propaganda about how the cowboys got a steal in Carson.

I wonder what happened.

.....but everybody is after game 1.....no one that plays isn't banged up.
He can tackle. He got hurt with his aggressive play and they brought him back because he was their best option.

No business being on an NFL field.

Amd to think this board was crowning him the "steal of the draft" during training camp :lmao2:
Offseason and camp is all about hype. Add him to the list behind Jabril Cox and Nashon Wright.

Am I crazy for wanting to try and trade Steele at the deadline and move Guyton to his natural RT?
