For sure. Nothing would of changed. I'm sure mentality, there's no difference in a locker room after a hard fought win or loss.
What does it matter, hell we all die anyways.
And I bet if this team beat the current leaders of the NFCE, they would of felt terrible and played poorly the next week.

2014, 1981, 1994... all have ZIP to do with this season.

The Bengals had jack squat as far as history goes, then all of the sudden they did.

The Rangers hadnt won a WS for how long? Then all of the sudden, they are Champions.

These are pro athletes.... there isnt a man in the Locker Room that doesnt think they are better than the Eagles.

Hell, I bet Peter McNeeley actually thought he had a shot against Mike Tyson.
I wasn't comapring pre Dak era teams just looking at this current core, i was comparing this modern group which starts around when he was drafted (plus a few earlier drafted players) and again has failed to produce signature wins.

The Rangers had never won a WS but at least they had been to a WS in back to back years...the cowboys have been devoid of winning anything of note since 1995 and this current core group has literally only had 2 wins of note (wc round) followed by major Divisional round disappointments.

you can try and find silver lining all you want but the reality is, time and time and time again, this group has failed when the lights are brightest and the competition is steapest....is that bc of culture? Jerry? Dak? something else? who knows - but the fact remains all we get out of "prime time" is "whine time" after we lose yet another potential statement game.

From the fans' perspective, I hope the loss will shift expectations from the team getting homefield advantage--something the team did not help its chances of securing Sunday--to gauging week-to-week from this point forward whether the team is improving to a level of succeeding in the postseason without the number one seed. Having the top seed is not a need in my opinion. Preparing to beat all teams seeded above and below yours when it matters most is.

LOL at this thread.
lol all you want. I guess I just remember history. Giants were 7-7 and Tom Coughlin was about to be fired. a couple months later, they own a Lombardi. If only that hadnt lost 2 times to the Cowboys that season... they might of actually won something...smh

Agreed... Right now the Cowboys are still very much in control of their destiny however folks want to look at it. glass half empty, glass half full.

Yes. Nothing would change. We would just have inside track to home field. That’s it. No big deal. It’s basically nothing. As you said.

Right

The Giants were 7-7 during the 2011 season and swept Dallas in both regular season matchups. The Cowboys had swept New York in the regular season during 2007. The infamous team meeting was held that season because practically everyone, Michael Strahan in particular, hated Coughin's super-strict coaching. Reportedly, Coughlin softened his approach somewhat and the rest is history.

Ironically, it was Coughlin's disciplinary approach that overcame internal team melodrama four seasons later. It helped end a New York midseason four-game losing skid, got the team back on track, and eventually beat the Patriots again in the Super Bowl.

The coaching and player dynamic is notably different this season in Dallas compared to those two New York Giants' situations. Hopefully, Mike McCarthy can help guide his team as Coughlin did but in a different way unique to him.

Lets just say we had no penalty from the 5 on that last drive. Dak drops back on the firts play and hits Ferguson for a TD and we win. The standings would be different, we would have a better shot at homefield, but besides those two things, nothing would be any different than it is today.
Those are two pretty big things IMO

 It's a huge difference. There's a decent chance the Cowboys won't even make the playoffs, or that if they do, they'll be a bottom seed.

Winning and almost winning are two different things. There's a word for almost winning - losing. The Commanders almost won at Philly, too.

Right now these Cowboys only think they can beat top teams because they haven't actually done it. The 4-4 Chargers & Jets are the best teams Dallas has beaten.

We'll learn a lot more about this team from Thanksgiving on, assuming there's not another Arizona-style hiccup before then (I don't expect one).

Agreed. Doubt is just a simple emotion to overcome. DAL should never doubt playing a team over .500......they arrived. Sarcasm.

How do you figure it’s better to be 2.5 games down to the Eagles than 1.5 games down?
Dude, loosen up buddy...lol
We got jokes! It's the only way to keep our sanity.
