Hampton vs Henderson

I think many are going to be surprised, I sense a high rb isn’t in the cards this year. As for Hampton/Henderson it isn’t close for me, one has durability issues and played on a super team, the other was is offense. Hampton all day for me!
Nothing will surprise me after last off-season

How long have we been saying “it will take 2 years to rebuild” wgen others are doing it faster? The Commanders squad at the end of last season only had 19 of 53 players from the year before

Please stop with this excuse making for this garbage FO
I am not making an excuse for the front office. We all know what the problem is. Not using free agency and bad drafting the last two seasons has set us back. This is a bad free agent group and the draft is considered poor as well. If we are lucky maybe we get two immediate starters but it’s going to take time.

Henderson’s stop/start ability and side to side movements are elite.

Hampton is a 220 lb bruiser with 4.4 speed. He is a bell cow RB. He runs for 100 yards against stacked boxes. His contact balance helps him break tackles.

Hampton doesn’t have the elite shiftiness of Henderson, but he does everything well. He is a complete back.
so which do you prefer?

Based on what we have heard, their plan is to keep Dowdle and pair him up with a draftee. Now if they are unable to keep Dowdle, do they sign another fa or do they look towards the draft to revamp the entire positional group? A player that we should watch is Jamaal Williams who was just cut by the Saints where his RB coach is now with the Cowboys.
interesting

I'm putting Quinshon Judkins over Henderson at this point. Judkins' Combine was eye opening.

Henderson had a 1.53 second 10-yard split at 203 pounds, Judkins had a 1.52 second 10-yard split at 221 pounds. They had identical 38.5" verts, and Judkins had an 11'0" broad vs Henderson's 10'8".

What that translates to, is that Judkins has all of Henderson's short-area explosion despite being a weight class up. Henderson's got more long speed, and he's got more wiggle on tape, but size and burst to the hole are a super translatable combo for NFL success.

As far as Hampton, he's a DeMarco Murray clone. He looks so much like Murray and plays so much like Murray that it's scary.

I’d be happy with either.

But probably Hampton. By a smidge.

Hampton is more of a bruiser, power runner. He runs with violence and physicality. I think he’d really help our red zone offense. He brings something we need - physicality.

Henderson is a more elite runner, has better long speed with has the potential to house any carry in a way that Hampton doesn’t. And I think he has better vision - Hampton has the tendency to (occasionally) run into guys or pick the wrong hole (that’s what she said). Henderson also brings something we need - explosiveness and speed.

But Henderson is more injury prone and smaller.

I’d be thrilled with either. I think both will be good backs.

If I am forced to pick only one though, it’s Hampton, because I believe he is a genuine bell cow, 20+-carries-a-game back.

I don't know where you're getting your numbers from; he missed 8 games between '22 and '23.

And this foot injury you speak of was so serious that he played in all 16 games last year.
I stand corrected Cal. You are correct. Henderson missed 8 games. My mistake.

I still believe his foot surgery is a consideration. Again, I like the kid but I see him as being behind Hampton in overall ability. If we take him I won’t be disappointed as long as they don’t reach.

nice. i like the sound of both options. sounds as though hampton will go significantly earlier though.

Apples and oranges.

Hampton is the bell-cow alternative if Jeanty is gone before 12.
Henderson has Saquon-like lateral movement and evasion, but he isn’t going to knock guys out of the way.

Depends what sort of back you want. Jeanty is #1 in the class because he can do a bit of it all.
