You did not answer my question. Why no outrage when a fan buys a jersey of a player or gets their autograph or when a city throws a parade for the team who just won a championship?
Eric_Boyer;4236192 said:I have expressed outrage over the idolization of some players – such as Michael Vick.
Or when an institution decides that their football program is so important, that they sweep child rape issues under the rug to preserve their intregrity.
So I find your question a bit silly, and inaccurate.
Doomsday101;4236201 said:You express your outrage of idiolization of Vick and some other but not all? so some are alight to praise and honor?
so fans buying Jersey and holding parades is alright as well?
Our men and women in the military do not choose the battle they just put their life on the line and if you can't appreciate that kind of commitment to this nation then that is your right.
While you may think those of us doing so is some how wrong I think what your missing it what and why we honor these people.
Eric_Boyer;4236209 said:Any institution that is idolized is at fault.
Show me where we have a Michael Vick holiday. Or a national holiday for the Cowboys.
Show me a policy on this forum where we can heap praise on Michael Vick, but it is not permissible to write bad things about him because it amounts to politicization.
You are trying to find a comparison where one does not exist.
Many church ministers give sermons idolizing our troops. I know of no such examples for athletes.

I understand that there are different points of view but we are getting way to political over the subject. Please, lets discontinue this course and just get back to the subject at hand. I do not wish to see this thread devolve into something other then just a simple happy birthday.
Please?

the marine corp is an entity, not an individual.

What can I say...I want to go into the topic with a long winded post but I know I would violate rules so I have to refrain on some of the topics or arguments I would like to present.

Something entirely different to be upset w/ the task they were ordered to do. I understand that part completely.
But...I love our military and I know they are just doing what they were ordered to do so I can't fault them.
Please don't confuse the two.
Our military has to go when ordered.
