Maybe because we threw off the shackles of tyranny while they remained loyal to the Crown.

Oh, I thought maybe there'd be something a little more recent to base it off of.

the fact you invaded us twice and failed is also a reason not to like us

basically, you probably hate the fact we have basically the same life as you guys do except we don't pay when we go to a hospital and have more water

in true Canadian fashion, most of us watched NHL free agent frenzy yesterday on TSN.

yeah we weren't traitors so you hate us

Hmmm. Freedom and independence or subservience to a brutal colonialist system. That's a toughie.

Yes we tried to liberate canada and was pushed back by the English Army that was encamped there twice.

And after seeing the canadians groveling at their masters feet we realized it was not worth the effort.

Ill take things that matter like less crime, free health care, lower unemployment, and a smaller populaton. 14 of the 22 players on Boston were canadian, also i believe we won gold at the olympics, and i dont even like hockey that much.lol

Are you sure that you are Canadian? I have many Canadian friends and use to joke with them about them having Thanksgiving also. I would tell them that they should be thankful that the US is next to them so they can protect their sorry butt. All kidding aside, Canada still makes one of the best beers in the world-Labatts Blue and I love their national anthem. Happy Canada Day to all my fellow Canadians.

Can't. They're all dead.

You haven't slammed U.S. gun owners or voters who think marriage is a sacred bond between a man and a woman? Think again.

Exactly. All that happened for a majority of Americans during the revolution was one set of white, male, aristocratic, slave owners (who happened to be under the auspices of the Crown) got switched out for another set who were looking to cut out the middle man.

Don't get me wrong no taxation without representation was one noble and worthwhile cause that was championed by our revolutionary fathers, but anyone who thinks any person, event, what have you, is strictly good, bad, moral, immoral, is blind and views the world in a simplistic way. Taxation was one reason we went to war, but another reason, arguably more important to many Americans at that time was the fact that the British were trying to keep the colonists from encroaching on, and stealing land from the Native Americans (proclamation line of 1763). Ever wonder why the Native Americans always sided with the British whenever we went to war with the British?

In addition to that, rhetoric being spouted off during the revolutionary period was that government was supposed to be there to help its people not rule them. But directly after the revolutionary war when the economy was in the crapper and poverty was running rampant, farmers seeking help were turned away by our newly formed "government for the people" (causing much tumult, including Shay's rebellion).

Ultimate irony of course is how Americans now really crap on France, call them cowards etc but without French assistance from Louis XVI, you might have lost the Revolutionary War.

Of course on that cold January day in 1793 in Paris, I am sure Louis XVI wondered why he helped the American colonists given the money spent helped create the crisis which led to the seminal event in Western European history, the French Revolution
