  • Cole (video link) hears from sources close to Hardy that the Cowboys defensive end is losing his will to fight the NFL in regard to his 10-game suspension, having been worn down by a long legal process. If Hardy’s appeal results in his ban being reduced by two or four games, he may be willing to accept the penalty rather than continuing to fight the NFL by filing a lawsuit against the league.
Dallas Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy's suspension still stands at 10 games, but he has been fighting to reduce the NFL's punishment.

What's the latest news surrounding Hardy? What is he willing to accept as a reduction?

Watch as Bleacher Report NFL Insider Jason Cole discusses Hardy's situation in the video above.

With football being 2 and a half months away I think this is what will happen. Hopefully the reduce it to 6 games though.

Not much of stretch for Jason Cole, yet again. He's quickly turning into one of the more unreliable "insiders" out there since he went from Yahoo to BR, so I am skeptical.

But it is a bit of common sense. If Hardy gets his suspension reduced by "2-4 games" why would he go through a long protracted legal fight given the circumstances.

What does he have to lose? Time and effort? He would be spending zero time on the appeal. It's all about legal interpretation at that point. He, as the client, would have no involvement. AND he isn't footing the bill. There is absolutely no reason to not appeal it to federal court.

So he's either sitting at home playing xbox during the season while lawyers fight it out or he's sitting at home playing xbox while lawyers don't fight it out. Makes no difference to him except the lost opportunity to reduce the punishment.

Honestly, I don't think he'd have much real choice in the matter as the NFLPA would insist on the appeal.

This is probably what the NFL wants, wear him down to agree to a 6 game suspension.

So Jason Cole thinks Hardy has been camping out in the Law Library writing briefs and compiling supporting evidence?

And very effective use of "may" and "might" sprinkled in that puff piece. Jason MAY weigh 150 and MIGHT be in line for the next big Subway sponsorship deal. So many possibilities exist that you could never be wrong if you err on the side of vague.

Because he believes he's innocent.

If I were innocent, no way I accepted a penalty such as this. In this climate, if you're innocent of a domestic abuse charge, you'd better fight it.

So this reporter writes a report about what he thinks might happen based on what again?

Cave in to what? He's a client. He doesn't have to do anything that would cause him to be "worn down"

He has had this hanging over his head since last May with no end in sight. The criminal stuff is over and he just wants some resolution from the League. That is pretty reasonable.

If it gets down to 2-4 games suspension I would take it. It kinda reminds me of opposing insurance companies when you get in an accident and it is not your fault. They are hoping that you forget about it. You need to be on your insurance company so the opposing one won't.

I would only hope Greg Hardy is appropriately more "hardy" than to give up at this point. He just needs to hang in there and fight this thing out to the end. It's much to his advantage to do so. If he and his lawyer can't see that, something's terribly wrong with their thinking.

I call BS....I find it hard to believe that Hardy would be worn down to the point he would be willing to sacrifice millions of $'s by accepting 6-8 game suspension when everything points to 2-4 games upon court ruling (assuming the appeal will not go that far). I find it even more unlikely that Hardy would be wearing down from a process that requires him to do little to nothing while his attorneys, agent, and NFLPA do all the heavy lifting. They really must think we are idiots when they write crap like that.

I think the article said he might not fight if it was reduced by 2-4 games, meaning 6-8 total.
