I might have to check it out. I assumed it was a car chase movie or something like "Fast and the Furious", which is not my kind of movie.
Its a suspense/drama movie with well used violence(sounds weird, but yeah).

Like I mentioned before the atmosphere of the movie is great. I guess I like the 80's feel it has like minimalist mentioned.

It is one of the worst movies i've seen this calendar year. I love cinematography and great soundtracks, but this was convaluded and forced.

Basically, they took this movie and said "hey...we are gunna be super duper artsy fartsy and it'll be awesome...because people like that stuff...ya we will be different...*high five*"

it has tarantino-esk parts with some blood...that stuff drives me nuts.

everyone has different tastes, and i mean no disrespect to those of you above me who enjoyed the flick, but i found it to leave a foul swell in my mouth haha.

The movie was in lock-step with the book, and hence it was a 9.5/10. Brilliantly done. Top notch writing, directing, cinematography, casting and acting. Albert Brooks KILLED it.

Not even remotely close to those movies. Watch it, then let us know what you thought. Just don't go into it with high expectations because that will ruin it for you. I think part of the reason I was blown away with how good it was was because I didn't expect it, AT ALL.

I think there are only 2-3 driving scenes. Oh, and the opening scene is one of the coolest openings to a movie.

8/10. I went in with no expectations, good or bad.

It probably would have been 30 minutes if they took out all the slow motion. ;)

The movie was based on a book,i dont they set out to make an "artsy fartsy" movie.

I finally got to watch it last night as I was on work related travel. I really enjoyed the movie. It was marketed way wrong IMO. That's why I never had an urge to watch it before.

It's a very stylish film that's well acted so a lot of people fail to realize it's not really about anything.

It's like a superhero movie, more or less.

Nicolas Winding Refn (the director) is very, very good at taking singular male characters and making them epic. He directed Bronson (starring Tom Hardy) and an even lesser known movie called Valhallah Rising (starring Mads Mikkelsen, best known as the villian in Casino Royale).

All three movies take one male character and amp him up to super human status while still feeling grounded in reality.

Drive is a very, very good movie (I own it), but I think some people have made more of it than it is.

It's funny you say that because after watching I immediately asked "why havent I heard about how good this was earlier?"

I can't help but feel like this is directed at me. It's a movie and opinions of it are subjective. How I feel about it doesn't mean everyone else will or has to.

I watched a little of Valhalla Rising and fell asleep. That's not to say it isn't great but it's the type of movie you need to know about before you watch it.

"It is one of the worst movies i've seen this calendar year."

I ABSOLUTELY agree, i dont understand what people like about this movie. it was a huge letdown for me, was expecting alot from Gosling, who is a great actor, I just didn't find him convincing as the strong silent type, and i found the mob boss even less convincing, and the over the top excessive violence (which i normally love) was just unnecessary. i loved the music, and the driving scenes were mehh.
