Has Dak been hiding how bad our offensive is?

In 2018 he was a sophomore quarterback. That will be almost 4 seasons ago.

Josh Allen, Steve Young, Elway, Farve, and probably other Great QBs in their sophomore year threw more interceptions/turnovers than touchdowns not an indictment when other great QBs hadn’t even stepped on the field at that age (like Rodgers)

Even when we had Romo in 2014 (#7 ranked offense) with the greatest edition of our Cowboys O-line we never had an offense ranked as high as Dak’s 2016, 2019, and 2020 years

Are rookie Micheal Gallup and chubby Zeke that good?

Dak was in his 3rd season when we acquired Amari..

Amari Cooper has been this teams mvp from the time he got here up until about game 9 or 10 of last season (2019).

The offense was at its best when Zeke was great.. The more we ask from Dak the worse our team gets and the better his numbers look.

If Dallas wants to get good again with Dak they need to be less pass happy, improve the OL, and this OMG greatest offense evvvur needs to actually jump out and get a lead on teams because playing with a lead is when Dak/Elliot have always looked their best.

In 2019 we ranked #1 in yards per game and #4 in points per game with a bruised Amari Cooper, still raw Micheal Gallup, and Randall Cobb who only started 6 games.

and before anyone says it was because we were down all the time we ranked #3 in points scored in the 1st quarter and #4 in points scored in the 2nd quarter.

Come 2020 for the first 4 games Dak started we ranked #2 in points per game and again #1 in yards per game.

Unfortunately, He gets hurt and we see Kellen Moore coach us to a slightly below average ranking of #16 in both points and yards.

Are we wasting our franchise quarterback’s prime and top 10 wideout with doo doo play callers?

There should be a rule about not being allowed to post stupid threads around meal time. I almost threw up my lunch

And stop the run on defence and just be better on that side of the ball. You're asking a lot of an offence if you need to score basically 40 points per game to have a chance at winning, which we basically had to do this season.

unfortunately, zeke's predilection for fumbling put us behind the eight ball several games in a row.

Zeke had 6 fumbles in 2020. Two of the 6 were in the Falcons game, which the Cowboys won (albeit they shouldn't have. So those didn't hurt the team that game.
That leaves 4. One was in the Cardinals game, which the Cowboys got blown out by 28 pts. That hurt, Cards scored after than.
One in the Cleveland game, Zeke's fumble resulted in a short Browns td, but the defense otherwise gave up 42 pts. Without the fumble, would Dallas have won? Not likely.

But:
One was in the Washington game, fumble was early third quarter, Wash got a field goal to go up by 10 instead of 7. But after that the Cowboys were outscored 21-6, even taking away the fg by Wash after the fumble, it was hardly the reason the Cowboys lost, it would probably have just been 38-16 instead of 41-16.

Zeke's fumbles were not the reason the Cowboys didn't do well...

Well last year I saw the defense perform plenty of times and that did not mean the offense was still going to produce.

Really the only thing this offense does is pound bad teams / defenses which heavily inflates the numbers.

Over half of Dak's TD's that year came against 3 really bad teams.

This is from last year.. Great post by me.

So Dak threw for 30 TD's this season.

9 of those TD's came in the first 3 weeks against awful teams. (All drafting top 5)

Against teams with a record of .500 or better he threw 11 TD's.

The other 19 came against the weak teams on our schedule and 13 of those 19 came in the first 3 weeks and week 17 against Washington when he threw 4 against a team that was done.

Dallas was also 2-7 against teams with a .500 record or better.

Dak had 4 games this year with no TD passes including our loss to the Jets...

He also had 11 int's... 3 of them came against the teams below .500.. The other 8 came against the teams with a .500 record or better.

How long have you been a Cowboy Fan Bobby? I ask because of the statement you make above. That was not the best OL we've ever had IMO.
You had Demarco Murray rush for nearly 2,000 yards and be selected Not only for the pro bowl but ALL pro too.

he couldn’t even get 700 next year with the Eagles dude.

it was by far our best offensive line

The trenches can’t be that important when we had the greatest o-line in 2015 and still went 4-12

Quarterbacks are far and wide the most importantly position.
individually, i totally agree. qb is the most important position on the field. but they must be protected. all qb's look bad with rushers in their faces. the examples i mentioned earlier were proof of this simple fact.

According to the NFL.com Dak ranks number 1 in passer rating against top 15 rated defensive teams on all throws 10+ yards.

With a clean pocket there hasn’t been a better thrower of the football than Dak Prescott the past two years.

so the play calling was good when Dak was healthy, but doo doo when he went out? You don't reach the top of the league if your calls are doo doo. I think the injuries and drop off in talent at the QB position killed us this year. That's not to say Moore wasn't doo doo. I think he is doo doo in the red zone and in the running game.

The defence last year didn't perform all that well either though. I agree that Dak could've played a bit better, but the defence still was an issue. When the defence did perform well, we usually won. We started 3-0 that year (though the defence didn't play great against Washington). However, when we played the Saints, our run deficiencies became clearer, but this was the one game our defence played relatively well and we lost. We couldn't stop their ground game all that well and lost 12-10. Granted, the Saints also had a few favourable calls from the refs that game. We then proceeded to get our faces smashed in against the Packers the following week in which Aaron Jones demolished us. We then lost to the, at the time, winless Jets. We gave up a 92 yard TD play! Against the Jets! Yeah, the defence was brilliant that game. We then crushed the Eagles the following week to start to feel some hope heading into the bye week. We curbstomped the Giants again who were killing us on the ground until the cat appeared. We couldn't stop the VIkings on the ground at all. Then came the loss to the Pats in which we couldn't stop the run (granted, we got hosed by the refs on 2 bs tripping calls), but were okay on defence overall given the conditions. This would possibly be the only other game one could argue we were decent on defence. We then got killed by the Bills on the ground. The Bears game was next, and it was a prime example of our run issues that season. We couldn't stop the run at all that night. I was there for that game. We couldn't stop the run at all. We couldn't even stop Trubisky running! He ran for about a 30 yard TD on us. Imagine not even being able to stop Trubisky from running! We killed the Rams the following week which was nice. Then came the Eagles game which everyone sucked (including Dak). Then we finished by beating Washington. I didn't see the last game tbh. However, the point remains. We weren't good at all on defence that season either. I even came close to drawing a false start on the Bears by howling and we STILL gave up 5 yards on the play on the ground. A few plays later, they scored.......on the ground.

In 2018 2 out of the 3 starting receivers Dak had were out of the league just next year. Cole Beasly was his #1 option.

it’s a miracle he had a 3:1 TD ratio 95+ passer rating and we still had a winning record even before they traded for Amari that season.

what quarterback is putting up numbers with out weapons exactly? After Rodgers lost Jordy Nelson’s prime it took him 4 years and Devante Adam’s to become the best WR in The league before he could crack more than 28 touchdowns in a season again.

OK, so you aren't going to answer that questions. Fine, I'm going to say that it must not be all that long. That OL was not even close to the best we've ever had.

For the record, Murray has never rushed for 2000 yards, in his entire career so 1845 yards is not close to 2000. That's number one. Secondly, he went to an entirely different scheme in Philly. In Dallas, he was the Bell Cow. In Philly, he was platooned with multiple other backs. That's a big part of the why, look at the number of carries. In Dallas, in 2014, he had almost 400 carries, like 392 or something. In Philly, the next season, he had less then 200 carries. Also, he had 392 carries and 57 catches. That's over 400 touches. What happens to backs who have over 400 touches in a single season? Do some research there if you don't know. There are a lot of reasons why the difference in production occured from 2014 to 2015. None of it supports the idea that the 2014 OL was the best OL we've ever had. That's just not true.

Smitty, Leary, Fredbeard, Martin and Free, while good, were not the best we've ever had.

I personally think Tuinei, Newton, Donaldson, Allen and Williams was the best OL we've ever had but there are others that would deserve consideration, IMO, before that 2014 line.
