Has this been reported about Jaylon?

His recovery wouldn't change my draft strategy anyway. We need another LB. A healthy Lee and a healthy Smith...wow...but I'm hedging my bets. I'd go defense with every pick unless someone dropped to me I couldn't pass up and couldn't get a trade down out of.

we already have 6.5 LBs on the roster.

Please, I'm getting renauseated (just made up that word) already -- Smith's nerve has been addressed ad nauseum on this forum, and nothing has changed regarding the diagnosis and prognosis..

He has a current partial peroneal impairment which affects the performance of his leg and foot in a minor fashion; his push-off strength is not affected.

The nerve will continue to improve over time, and there's a good chance that he will not need the brace in the near future.
Thanks Doc!

There's a difference in him playing with a brace and him playing with full feeling. It seemed pretty clear that he was going to play anyway based on what we've seen, but it has never been clear that he could be at full health when he does it.

Imo I highly doubt that once the season starts he will have that brace. His comments lead me to believe that he is on the right track to make it happen be season opening.

There's been conflicting reports thrown around ad nasuem on these boards, and I don't want to read every post in every 40 page thread to find a prognosis that has been agreed upon. Some people say it's not firing at all, some say it's regenerating only but not firing, some say firing but takes a while to get to 100%.

Even what you said doesn't seem clear to someone without a medical background like me. So do you believe his nerves are at a point that they're firing and hes starting to have motor function again, but it'll take a while to get full feeling back? So you would say he on schedule, not behind schedule like some editor's out there keep saying?

Just read my previous posts on the subject.

Even if he does wear the brace, as long as his nerves are working it's not a big deal to me. It may take time to get him to 100 percent, but the news on this IMO is the confirmation that the nerves are firing. We don't know how much or how long it will take to get to full strength, but this shows that he's heading down that path.

I agree. If it's improving, you'd hope in the six months to the start of the season it'll have been enough time to scrap the brace. He'll ideally just need it through workouts and maybe ota's

I look at Jaylon Smith as our early 1st round pick like last year and then we have an early pick in every other round instead of a late one

5- JSmith LB
28- JPeppers SS
60- Best CB
92- Villanova DE
133- Best WR

even better

I said it last year....would you trade our pick at 34 for a top 5 pick this year? and it was how I sold myself on JSmith

it looks like it may pay off big time, even if we lose a year

bk - u know i am only interested in superbowls, so jaylon would be braindead easy decision for me.
he recovers - daddy
he does not - it is 50-50 on a 2nd round anyway for a starter.

It is the Cowboys COO corroborating that the nerve has started to fire. Given that I have been harangued for over 3 months by people saying it had not, this is quite significant.
I always had faith in you Fuzzy. :). Don't let haters discourage from posting interesting and informative things. This forum would be very boring if everyone agreed about everything.

It's so weird how messages can be perceived differently given the audience. I absolutely loved every single one of his uplifting positive prayerful status updating tweets.
Do you have any more pictures of Cowboys pointing in random directions?

For a LB to blitz here Marinelli would have to shift his philosophy. We don't blitz a lot.
I am tired of seeing Sean lee blitz. For him to be so great at everything else, he sure is a crappy blitzer.

Blitzing isn't exactly a science. We collectively suck at blitzing because we dont crowd the line of scrimmage, we tend to blitz too late (and from too far out) giving the opposing QB plenty of time to see it coming.
