Reddick may prove me wrong; Dak sure has heck did

Kudos on admitting you were wrong about Dak. Seems simple enough yet people tend to hold on to their initial feelings when it comes to players they didn't like to begin with.

That says a lot about you and how you evaluate talent, IMO.

Nice job. I'm going to make sure to read your viewpoints going forward.

And that was a mistake, IMO. I'll take Martin every day and twice on Sunday's.

Shazier was faster than Reddick but Hassan has better size and is much better getting to the QB. Not that either would be counted on as a consistent pass rusher, but Reddick, if you asked him to blitz, is much better at that.

IOW, I see Shazier as a Will LB in Marinelli’s scheme and Reddick as more of a Sam (rover [pass rusher]) (although I think he could play Mike as well).

I’m so glad Pitt took Shazier and we had to take Martin. SO glad.

I wanted Aaron Donald first and foremost but after he was gone I was on the Martin bandwagon. Woulda be very upset with Shazier.

We were both vehemently on the Aaron Donald band wagon but I thought Shazier to be the better player vs. Zack. Man, was I wrong.

I was against Reddick as I couldn't see where he would fit in our defense.

But I am coming around on him. I heard a guy on NFLN call him a poor man's Khalil Mack. Not quite as big as Mack, obviously.

Do your eyes see a poor Khalil Mack?

Here's my biggest concern with Reddick in regards to the Cowboys. He's a fringe player, a tweener, in this scheme and I'm not sure he's special enough to overcome his lack of size (like a Von Miller or even a Bruce Irvin). This defense has too many holes and needs to where we really shouldn't risk that valuable asset (first round pick) on a guy like that.

Reddick may prove me wrong; Dak sure has heck did...but I think this team has a real shot at competing for a Super Bowl these next 3 years. I don't want to gamble with our limited resources.

I am going to respectfully disagree with the highlighted part. I don't think the problem with this defense is "holes," I think we have 10-15 guys that are ok. Not holes, but not play-makers either. We have one consistent play-maker - Lee.

What this defense needs is more play-makers. The problem is that picking at #28, we aren't likely to get a play-maker especially at DE, but Reddick seems very much like a play-maker. If he falls to us, which I think is unlikely, I would love to have him.

Yep we are watching the same thing. One basically elite but fragile talent on defense surrounded by average NON play making talent.

Agreed.

Our linebacker depth (a healthy Jaylon Smith notwithstanding) is talent poor and it's one of our more underrated needs.

And BTW Lee is now 31 Y/O. Depending on him to be your defensive cornerstone is like depending on your classic car with 200k miles on it to get you to work every day. It might get you there in style, or it might get you there on the back of a flatbed.
