Hatcher interesting tweet..

Hatcher was our most consistent lineman all season...offensive or defensive. I don't know why so many people on here dislike his game. He was very solid in the run game and had a very respectable 4 sacks from end and inside the 3-4. The tape doesn't lie. I don't know why folks seem to think these guys turn 30 and just stop knowing how to play football. Idk if some are still bitter about that crucial offsides penalty he committed in Washington but I'd much rather keep him on the roster if he is producing at 30+ than some guy we are "developing" (aka can't get the job done yet)

“@hatcher97: Last year with #cowboyszone.. I'm going to be the best I can be for y'all.. That's my word..”

Kind of a weird tweet, almost like he knows or just wants out of Dallas.

Saw a tweet a while back from a random fan telling him to come back to New Orleans and he retweeted.. Hmmm

He's always been a great attitude and effort guy. Sounds to me like he may be a bit apprehensive about his roll in next year's defense. Maybe the coaches have been discussing rotations and his sounded limited or something...Once he gets back to work, he'll show up and find himself some significant snaps. He's a good guy and a hard worker.

The guy is already picturing himself in another uniform & we are 5 months away from the season.. UGH right when I start to lean the other way and try to see the good things this guy brings, he puts something out there that makes you shake your head.

Ratliff was not our best DL in 2011.. he was possibly our best rag doll though.

stop posting goofy things.

2011. ratliff was a pro bowl starter. he had more tackles than hatcher and faced double teams regularly. hatcher was a rotation guy who played on passing downs.

2012 ratliff was good when he actually played... sadly he didn't play much. brent was the better nt. hatcher was the best of an oft-injured and generally underwhelming dl.

a couple years ago ratliff was the best NT in football.

I saw you post something similar a while back and I was skeptical.

Pretty shocked to see that he graded out 4th best for 3-4 DEs.

Last year, 10th.

Personally, I'm a little embarrassed to not have taken notice of the guy to a greater extent.

He graded out as the best defensive player on the team last year. Kind of a statement to how unnoticed that position is.

I've been just about the biggest proponent of Hatcher on this board.

From back when I said he was way better than Spears and people ridiculed me for it. And I think he's got 3 years playing at that level so it'll be wise to keep him after this year. I don't see anybody breaking bank for a 32 yr old.

But as good as I think Hatcher is, Spencer is still a better player. People need to stop fooling themselves.

The writing is on the wall fro next years salary cap. Isn't Dallas approximately $ 40 million over the projected amount for 2014.

Do we have to go through this every year? Those same reports had the Cowboys over the cap by a similar amount going into this off-season and that was without Franchising Spencer.

The way that the Cowboys structure contracts, it's always going to appear that they are drastically over the cap the following season.

Ratliff has never been and will never be the best NT in football, and people generally accepted that pro bowl invite as a joke. He got in on his name from years past. He's never been effective at holding the LOS as a NT.. and his pass rushing ability is marginalized when we try to play him there.

If I had to guess I would think he's using logic ..

1) He's in the last year of his contract
2) He will be 31 years old before the season starts
3) The team was well over the cap so they had to restructure contracts of several players, but not with him.
4) Potential young replacements on the team

Yes, I think the reality of the NFL is that "I'm in the final year of my contract and it's a business." Just a way of saying I'm going to give it my all in the final year of my contract.

coming off a pretty solid year last year I don't think this is just about a contract.

Prima Donna.

It's called being insecure since the team hasn't offered him a new contract.

I think people are reading too much into it. Communicating what you mean is far from easy in a real conversation, much less on Twitter.
