Hatfields and McCoys Movie on History Channel

It does.

I've never liked Costner in anything BUT historical/western type roles. He just works for films like this. Open Range is one of my favorite movies of all time.

I liked both of his baseball movies a lot, too (Field of Dreams, For Love of the Game)...

I don't think he's a great actor, but I generally like him and the movies he does...

This may be Costners best work.

I seem to be the contrarian in this thread, but my favorite performance so far has been Paxton... Powers Boothe as the judge has been pretty good too...

The acting from the main cast has been supurb so far.

You are right, Paxton has been great. So far all around great acting by most of the cast.

Paxton, Costner, and Booth have really all been great so far. Paxton's arrival home was almost haunting.

Beringer hasn't been bad either.

I think what went on between these families becomes more realistic due to the era they lived in and it's proximity to that nasty, face-to-face killing going on in the Civil War. Some ruthless stuff for sure.

Watched episode 1 last night. OUTSTANDING. Can't wait for tonight.

This is one great show. I expected it to be good, but it has gone beyond expectations. The Hatfields came out ahead in this feud if you keep count, but there were really no winners. It was just pain and suffering for all involved.

Thought it dragged on a bit tonight...tough to beat that first episode though.

I was still very much engaged and I think with a 6 hour presentation, there has to be a period of explaining some of the minutia that entailed this feud.

Though it did seem to lag some, I thought it was very well done and can't wait for tomorrow night's finale.

Just an awesome presentation.

I've never seen him attempt this kind of role, a hate-filled vengeance driven man who uses the Bible to justify his violence, and he has made me believe him...

Hard to believe it's the same guy from "Twister"...

Great performances definitely! When Emmy time rolls around they will be nominated.

Thank goodness for the willingness of the "other" channels to produce worthwhile viewing fare. The work done by them far outclasses anything the "majors" put out. If not for them,TV as we knew it would be nothing but trash and politics. Hopefully this is the future of TV.

So true! And this had to cost millions just to assemble the cast they did. Costner would be expensive..

..

Or Apollo 13 for that matter, which is one of my top 5 movies of all time.

Well said and spot on. This kind of production is what TV should be about.

I'm rewatching part 2 now. It would be interesting to visit this part of the country.

West Virginia is beautiful...if you don't mind an occasional "holler" filled with double wides, giant TV dishes, and small blocks laying out in the yard.

Seriously though...the mountains are beautiful there. LOTS of outdoor activities to do. I used to go out there several times a year for whitewater rafting, canoeing, snowboarding and hiking/camping trips.

My idea of a good time these days is sightseeing and stoping for lunch. :D
