As far as feuds go it was far more bloody, but less known.

Maybe we should get Commodore Perry and Devil Anse together.

They did a great job except for the very end when they were showing a pic of the characters and a little blurb of what happened to them later. It went so fast that you did not get a chance to read them at a comfortable rate...if that makes sense.

I thought the same thing buri have it on my DVR so I could pause it and read the stuff. And yes, they did save the behind the scenes stuff for the DVD. Frankly I prefer it that way because it would take some of the "magic" away from the movie if they did it before or right after the movie.

I agree, I would have like to have seen that. I'm sure since the History channel will come back with a true historic views and accounts before long given the success of this movie.

The whole Matewan Massacre stuff is very interesting if you liked the Hatfield and Mccoy stuff.

Owens is better than any of the Hatfields and Mccoys in a gunfight. The only one that was known to be a great shot was Cap.

Yes, that was the only negative for me, but to be fair he does have some roots in Kentucky so it fit.

The ending did seem rushed. I went backed and paused it to read the captions.

agreed on the ending. when i saw like 10 minutes left i kept thinking that's a lot to do in such a short time frame.

esp considering 10 minutes still had time for a commercial break.

on the 1st night it seemed they went 40 minutes before going to commercial then more regular after that.

last night there wasn't a commercial for 22 minutes. after that, the next one came up 7/8 minutes later.

highly annoying.

Yeah, Matewan (the movie) was brilliance...

Back to H & M, I wonder how historically accurate the suggestion that the slimy lawyer was behind the whole thing is... the way they presented it, it makes sense...

Part 3 is shaping up to be really good so far. It also looks like the overall series is doing really well in the ratings. I put this one up there with Band of Brothers and Lonesome Dove. Maybe more networks will do shows like this instead of reality tv.

Its Memorial Day debut drew 13.9 million viewers, a new high for an entertainment show on ad-supported cable TV. In addition to averaging 13.8 million viewers across its three-night run, the miniseries' numbers actually increased on its final night to 14.3 million viewers, nearly unheard of for a multi-episode program in recent years.

The series was pretty sweet. I love the way Paxton spews the biblical jargon. I learned of this feud long ago from a childhood friend and his family. His name was Perry Hatfield his father Bill (William) would tell us the stories late into the night. It's funny that it stuck with me all these years and I felt a personal connection while watching even though I have none.
