Have any players dissappointed in Training Camp?

Dalton Schultz has shown a whole lot of nothing. I guess that's to be expected when you draft a blocking TE in the 4th.

Mike White has too much potential to be cut. We will carry 3 QB's this year. The kid is smart and God forbid if Dak and Rush go down, we still have a chance with White. He put up gawdy numbers at Western Ky. Started a ton of games. White reminds me of Steve Walsh..same type of frame but has a little stronger arm.

White hasn't shown any reason to believe that a team would want to snatch him off waivers.

My 53 doesn't include him for now:

QB (2): Prescott, Rush

RB (3): Elliott, Smith, Jackson

FB (1): Olawale

WR (7): Hurns, Gallup, Beasley, Williams, Austin, Thompson, Lenoir

TE (4): Swaim, Jarwin, Gathers, Schultz

OL (9): Smith, Williams, (Frederick), Looney, Martin, Collins, Fleming, Edwards, Trade/Green (could go with eight if we IR Frederick)

DE (5): Lawrence, Charlton, Gregory, Armstrong, Tapper

DT (4): Collins, Crawford, Woods, Price

LB (6): Lee, Smith, Vander Ecsh, Thomas, Wilson, March-Lillard

CB (5): Jones, Awuzie, Lewis, Brown, Thomas

S (4): Heath, Woods, Frazier, Trade/Robinson

ST (3): Bailey, Jones, Ladouceur

Instead of Tapper, I'd be OK with going with White, Ross, Covington, Quiero or either Ward, but I'm not sure we'd have much problem getting any of them to the PS. Jihad Ward might be the toughest to get through waivers.

I agree with your eval for the most part, why no comment on Dak

My biggest disappointment is easily Jourdan Lewis. He had a really nice rookie season, and while he's a square peg for a Seattle-style defense, he's a gamer and that's been his MO ever since college. I figured he'd find somewhere in this defense to contribute.

Nope. Fallen past the second and towards the third team, and still not doing anything there.

I'd offer him out as trade bait right now for zone-heavy defenses and see what kind of return we can get.

Another disappointing player to me has been Connor Williams. We all know the book on him was that he needed to add strength, but damn if that hasn't been apparent in training camp. Athleticism looks good, technique looks really good, but when push comes to shove, DTs just run slap-dash over him. We've seen it in camp and we've seen it in preseason games. I'm still confident that he'll work it out long term, but I had really expected that a 2nd round OG to be more pro-ready than he is.

Datone Jones is on the IR? When did that happen?
He's got a hurt knee that is expected to keep him out for at least a few weeks. When going over the 53 on talkin' cowboys, Spagnola said he's going on IR. Now to return during the season he needs to be on the 53 before that happens.

This was not that surprising to me. UT's strength and conditioning program was very weak and too many players were not that strong on the interiors. Hence why they have not been good for that long. I have confidence he will add strength now that he is in the pros. Strength you can add. Can't really just add the other intangibles he brings.

I agree Connor Williams is going to take some lumps this year, I do however see a very good player who is 21 and not fully developed. I would imagine next year will be much better but his game will blossom in the third and fourth year, right in time for a large contract. He was the right pick in the second, he is not going to be all pro this year but he is worth the effort for his future dominance. We are spoiled with Martin, Fred, and T Smith as they all performed well their rookie seasons, they are the outliers not Williams. This Dorance Armstrong might be the crown jewel of this draft and that is a great surprise.
Thanks XWalker for starting this thread, love seeing the opinions...

I would say Rush has to be at the top of the list for me. Very disappointed in his play so far.

Having said that the new FA Olinemen we've brought in have been a major bummer as well and those are the guys that have been blocking for him.

KYLE QUIERO WILL BE A SPECIAL TEAMS STUD AND A NICE DIME PLAYER. He will be on the 53. He and Covington stay on the 53 when push come to shove. White at worst will be on the Practice Squad.

The tight ends frankly. Was hoping Rico would never even need to receive a serious mention this off season.

Under-Performers:
Mike White: He's a cut candidate
Jourdan Lewis: He's the 7th DB at the moment, was expecting him to be the 2nd
Kone Ealy: I really think he should be cut, well down the list IMO
Dalton Shultz: Could be the highest draft pick cut in a long time.
Out-Performers:
Jaylon Smith: Was expecting him to be good, he's been great.
Taco Charlton: Starting to put some moves together, he's shown good power.
Joe Thomas: He's done everything right
Byron Jones: Maybe the player of training camp.
Dorance Armstrong: Challenging Gallup as our best performing rookie
Michael Gallup: Our best rookie and arguably no.1 WR
Randy Gregory: 2nd best D-linemen and it's not close

I think Jordan Lewis for me but I believe it's a confidence thing after bringing in Kris Richard mainly because his size and he knows Kris Richard favors larger Corners

I'd say yes there have been a few as mentioned in the thread.

Schultz has been rag dolled a few times and that is no bueno because we don't play guys who can't block.
Mike White was advertised as studly but had been dudly in games.
Ealy is detailing why no other team kept him.
LVE has been a no show with injuries. For a guy as raw as rain he needs every rep possible.
