Hope so. I'm still quite high on him. Loved the rundown tackle last game which showed massive athleticism. So far I have the DE's ranked:
1. Lawrence
2. Gregory
3. Taco
4. Crawford
5. Armstrong

With 3-5 very close and Tapper a little ways behind.

Did you notice the play where DT Price ran down a ball carrier that was going down the right sideline? Price came across and down the field to make the tackle about 20 yards downfield.

Under-Performers:
Mike White: He's a cut candidate
Jourdan Lewis: He's the 7th DB at the moment, was expecting him to be the 2nd
Kone Ealy: I really think he should be cut, well down the list IMO
Dalton Shultz: Could be the highest draft pick cut in a long time.
Out-Performers:
Jaylon Smith: Was expecting him to be good, he's been great.
Taco Charlton: Starting to put some moves together, he's shown good power.
Joe Thomas: He's done everything right
Byron Jones: Maybe the player of training camp.
Dorance Armstrong: Challenging Gallup as our best performing rookie
Michael Gallup: Our best rookie and arguably no.1 WR
Randy Gregory: 2nd best D-linemen and it's not close
Surprised Jourdain Lewis hasn't separated himself.

It is somewhat common for DBs to take time to adjust to the Kris Richard scheme. The technique goes against what many CBs have learned previously.

I wont say im disappointed in any 1 player. First of all we dont know what was asked of many, and second instead of disappointment, i think some fans got a dose of reality. A very low dose. I will say this. Overall, I think its been a better than average off season. Did we address all of our concerns? Clearly not, but thats ok. Its going to be another down here, dont get excited, i called it bad last year, reality proved me right. Buckle up for a ride, just dont be sad when it happens, ok. No big deal.

I have said this is Waving Monkey, so i ll say it again. I think with the new coaches, the new culture, and what the FO did with changing the defense when the team was close, JG is looking at 3 years min. Ok, thats reality deal with it. So far hes done better than average.

Love the new coaches, i think they make the year better, not by record, but by changing the culture. The FO is still the FO so there is only so much leeway. Yes i have gone on record that JJ is not interested in winning the SB, i think history backs me up on it.

This year, JG implements new stuff. The immediate move, leave the defense alone. Let them handle the D, just stay out of it. So far all the roster moves we have made are pretty good. The cuts will trim it down, and we ll see what we are looking at and what direction they want to go. Makes sense.

Ealy, Ward, you knew what they were about, not superstars, possibly solid, maybe nothing left anymore. Who knows, clearly not on the fast track to raise eye brows.

On the other side here is what made me mad about the Switzer Ward trade, this was the year to find out what you have. We need a Terry Glenn type player to make the WR by committee work. Even if Gallup stands out and hes on the fast track to do it, the ball still needs to be spread around. We are hoping Beasley helps, but who knows who the defenses will target. Last year , target a player and the Cowboys just collapsed. You need the TG player to keep the defense honest.

Now, the best attack at this point. Run, run set up the pass. Ive gone on record with this, if they try it the other way, it will take a month to figure out what you have. Technically you have all year, so have at it. Ill never ever ever ever accuse JG of being a good coach.

If JG cant crack 8 wins, i personally feel he should be dumped, but lets face it, JJ doesnt care as long as he makes hundred dollar bills. Hes Manziels hero, lets all be honest. So, long story short, no real disappointments up untill this part, pretty happy with what im seeing. for me pre season is over, we know what we got and everything else will just get bad. Healthy recovery Fredbeard, because speedy wont be needed. This year really wont matter on the record, but lets see if JG can change the culture and install things that work.

They were not going to keep all of Beasley, Tavon Austin and Switzer on the roster regardless of the Switzer-Ward trade.

Wanna hear an odd stat? read somewhere Ealy was near the top of the league ( 2nd I think ) in knock-downs last year.
Yes, he blocked several passes.

He has ability but came to camp over-weight and looks lazy. He tried to take himself out of a PS game and the coaches forced him to stay in.
