Have the Cowboys forgotten about the pass rush?

How many of them did you see play last season I saw: Woodley, Moss, who was a big reason why they beat Ohio State in the Championship game, Moses, and Crowder but didn't see the rest of them.

just Victor, Jarvis and Woodley

Spears was called out for a lack of effort- so anything he says I pretty much ignore. Its interesting who has publicly made noise and who has been quiet.
Pass rush from DEs is a bonus in the 3-4; its not the main event. And lets be honest about our DEs- even in pure passing downs when they were expected to rush the passer they sucked. LBs are the ones to apply the pressure in the 3-4.
That's what I initially thought that the LBs, are the reason that 3-4 defenses are implemented in football but I think the change of scenery will be good for Spears, and Canty.

Yeah Marcus, had some success rushing the passer at LSU, but I never saw him as a pass rush specialist coming out of college.

But I wouldn't put him in the bust category after a season and a half of play.

Obviously I like Woodley (see sig ;))

But like Summer, I think just replied, there is a long list of tweeners that are available that wouldn't disappoint me.

I for one, am really high on Wade and what he can scheme up so in my eyes it really doest matter who we get to play LB.

The guy had everyone in SD's front 7 playing at a high level.
I for one wouldn't mind if they sign Antwan Peek, from the Texans he too would blossom in this scheme ala Steve Foley, what do you think of this scenario.

Peek signed w/ the Brownies

before you carry that notion too far, BP said he saw Carp as a player capable of playing multiple positions

And then he used him at none of them, practically.

Notre Dame
I watched some Norte Dame games and never paid any attention to him.

Maybe that had to do with Brady Quinn, and the offense I dunno.

Well, we've drafted Ware, Carpenter, and Hatcher. Those guys are all supposed to be good at getting at the QB.

Who would you want to break the bank for in FA? There really wasn't anyone that was that appealing. Depending on Ellis, on whom you have NO insight whatsoever in terms of his recovery, you might have another at least situational pass rusher.

i think our new defensive scheme will take care of pass rush issues...

We have Ware, Carpenter, Burnett, James, and Ayodele.....realistically to throw at the LBer position.

Ayodele seems settled in at ILB and Ware at OLB.

Bradie I think has to remain at ILB, but the question is, should he start?

Burnett and Carpenter could potentially play inside or outside. Both are early first day draft choices. What if Burnett plays inside in a role similar to Donnie Edwards (Burnett does have coverage ability) and Carpenter plays outside opposite of Ware?

We'd have speed, athleticism, and better coverage ability than the LB core we used last year. Question is, can Burnett handle the ILB spot. If so, I'd like to see Burnett start alongside Ayodele and be used similarily to the way Donnie Edwards was used. And Carp/Ware on the edges a la Phillips/Merriman.

we have 5 capable Lbs in James, Ware, Kev, Akin, Carp and Ellis oh well that 6 LBs, James and Akin get paid to much to come off the bench Carp and Kev are 1st and 2nd rounders that is young and will get better. And Ware well is Ware....Greg Ellis is the Only Question Mark but I say we address a LB tweener in the 3rd, u can always find good LBs in the 3rd and 4th rounds better than any other position

Well that's true but you can never have enough pass rushers as some say.

Broken Record: Bradie James is not paid too much to sit on the bench. He's paid at about the market value for veteran backups/starters.

And honestly, I don't care how much a player is making or where he was drafted. If he can't rush the QB, I want someone else.

Well WP's 3-4 defense, is interchangable and very LB friendly it will be that LB, we think nothing of that will be a star opposite Ware.

No one knew who Steve Foley, really was until he came to SD, and yes he was an okay pass rushing LB, with Houston, but was even better at SD so Phillips, has a track record with turning potentially good LBs' into Pro Bowl players.

as a pass-rusher, people I've talked to who've seen him say that he was more disruptive as a pass-rusher than Quentin Moses, but his agility isn't very good for an OLB
