Anthony Wright- when he had just claimed the starting QB job for the Ravens following a scintillating performance against Seattle and Kyle Boller's first major injury. It's tough to meet any Cowboys in Baltimore.

Burton Lawless came to my high school to give a speech (I forget what it was about) in my freshman year. If y'all remember, Burton's career was cut short by a neck injury he sustained off the field. My friend and I got to talk with Lawless for a little while that morning before our first period. I ask him if I could look at his SB XII ring thinking he would just stick out his hand so we could see it. To my and my freind's suprise, Burton took the ring off and handed it to me. The sucker was big and very heavy. Sweet ring though.;)

Later, all the kids were assembled in the gym for Burton to speak. When he had finsihed his speech, Lawless answered a few question. One student ask Burton who was the toughest team he ever faced. Lawless said it was Pittsburgh.

After he was finsihed, everyone started asking Lawless for his autograph. My friend, having brought one of his textbooks to the assembly, handed the book to Burton to use as a prop. My friend, a die hard Steeler fan, had written in one corner of the book's cover, "Pittsburgh Steelers #1". At the bottom, he had written, "Cowboys Sux!" Burton looked at the cover, laughed, and went on signing autographs. Burton Lawless is a very nice guy.
Remebering that day always makes me laugh. :starspin

Never met any Cowboy players.

I'm not the kind of person that would approach a player if I saw one. Not to say that it's weird to do it, I just wouldn't do it.....if that makes sense.

Did he get mad and kick his golf ball off to the right?

Hey Hostile, I talked to Bob Lily over the phone, but never met him in person, now i was like 20 feet away from him, but couldnt get to him at another time. Yet, I did talk to him on the phone about 4 minutes or so.

The others, I met some at valley ranch, dallas cowboys headquarters, training camp out at austin, and training camp at san antonio. The one at san antonio, I met about 17 players, but I was getting autographs signed, and this friend of mine had a football of a friend that lived close to him, and his dad was dying of cancer, so most of the players signed the football for me. I did get to talk to about 7 individually, but the others were signing the football for me, they were looking at my cowboys cap, and i think they would have signed it for me, but other fans were tryinng to get autographs and you know how hetic that is.

Most enjoybable players I met were drew pearson, we talked a good bit, and he wanted to know where I had gotten a football book that I had, he signed it and about 9 other players. One of them was Billy Joe Dupree, and we talked some too, real nice fella too, at that time they were playing basketball for dallas hoopsters.

In Austin, I met Leon Lett, whom was really big, and a nice guy, he was jolly, met Nate Newton too, he is real nice, and I have talked to him alot on the phone too. I also got to talk in detail with daryl johnston the moose, now there was a real enjoyable event. Troy was ok,, but he was just signing autographs you know, hectic somewhat.

These are all of the memorable ones I can remember. I also got to talk to Chris Canty, now he is huge, and a real nice guy, he was surprised, that I knew about his eye and family. So was Stanback, and he was nice too. Glymph and Urban were ok, but again hectic autographs.

Matt Moore and Bartel spent some time too, and so did gramatica. Gramatica the kicker, not sure i spelled his name right, but he was real nice after he found out about the football for the boy's dad that was dying of cancer.

I really liked Urban too, wished the Cowboys had kept him.

there are numerous stories too like meeting alicia landry going up to the cowboys headquarters, and then meeting golden richards there and john wooten. Wooten was the one that i gave a booklet pages of the shotgun formation from a book that red hickey had written.

I was close to roger staubach too, but not close enough, so i wrote him, he sent me an autographed photo of him throwing a pass to calvin hill in the vikings game, and he had some nice things to say in the letter.

I've met many Cowboys during their Superbowl run at Fatso's in Arlington (now closed) during Emmitt Smith's radio show.

If you want a list, just look at all the prominent names from 94'-96', but subtract Aikman, Moose, Haley, Larry Allen, Tolbert, and Thomas Everett. There may have been a couple of other of the big named players, but that is most of them. Of course several of the lesser named players I didn't mean either. Only the ones Emmitt brought to the radio show.

I didn't meet Michael Irvin there, I met him at Centennial Liqour store in Addison and Nate Newton used to drop his kids off at Fort Worth Christian school.

I lived in Coppell off of Sandy Lake and I met a few Cowboys at local establishments sometimes. Actually, living there and Arlington, I met several Dallas Stars, Texas Rangers, and a Dallas Maverick.

But i have met a good many players, and most of them were nice. Only ones I didnt like last year were James Marten and Doug Free, they acted each time llike they were too good to sign autographs.

Sounds like Alvin Harper. He wasn't exactly friendly. While Tony Casillas was nice, (ie not VERY rude) he had ******* written all him. You could tell he thought the world of himself and that every female in the place should be falling all over themselves to meeet him. :laugh2:

This is very Old School.... I met Preston Pearson at my place of business. He was friends with the owner. He had the biggest hands I have ever seen. His fingers must have been 6" long.....

I met Fasano, Carpenter, Romo, and Canty in the lobby in their Washington hotel two years ago.
Rode down the elevator with Stanback and talked to him briefly last year in the hotel in Chicago.
