You know you're stretching with this but I'll humor you. Noah Brown's production increased because the offense had to replace 104 targets. He was used as an over-the-middle short-mid range target when Cooper was here, and his role was elevated to WR3 this season. You can clearly see that his YPC has increased every year and to assume that the vet receiver in the room had no role in that is pretty silly.
How is Cedric Wilson looking in Miami without Coop to lean on? Tyreek Hill is unanimously considered a superior player and Ced was expected to have a breakthrough season in that offense, but he disappeared. Why? If you're going to use the development of one player as an argument, you have to consider everyone else in similar positions. One would expect Ced to have a better year playing opposite an elite veteran receiver, but clearly that wasn't the case.
More importantly, why did Dak's interception output spike this season? He missed 5 games and still threw 5 more picks than he did in a full season last year. The passing offense was fine with Gallup out of the lineup prior to this season, but took a substantial hit in the TD/Int ratio, and looked sporadic at best throughout this season. You can say it's because the offense needed two of the three (CeeDee, Coop, MG), and you would be proving my point. We missed out on the #1 seed by two games. One can easily look at the schedule, pinpoint a pair of games that could have been won with better offensive output, and realistically say that they could've been won.
It doesn't matter anymore because the team looks to have caught fire at the right time, after some late acquisitions on that side of the ball. I'm optimistic that this team will break the curse and I'm thrilled to see how it plays out. I just can't for the life of me understand why you and others continue to trash the guy when he was clearly a catalyst for offensive production and could have been the difference between the #5 seed and the #1 seed.
