That being said, I think it's just wrong that a guy who accounts for over 2,000 yards from scrimmage, averages almost 9 yards per touch and scores 38 TDs as a running back isn't going to win the Heisman. He is going to break Barry Sanders' single season TDs record in the bowl game.

I know they will call it breaking the record. To me he is setting a different record because it comes under different circumstances and rules. The stats in bowl game didn't count when Sanders played. They didn't start counting bowl game numbers until around 1999. Ball also has already played in more games this season than Sanders did in 1988 when he held the record. Ball is impressive. No doubt about that.

Everything I am reading and seeing on TV suggests that RGIII is the likely frontrunner. I know he has gotten a lot of attention from the media. His chances may hinge on how early most of the voters cast their ballot. If they waited until RGIII started getting more notice he has a shot.

I think RGIII wins it. I know Luck was the front runner at the start of the season but the front runner at the start does not ensure you win it.

I still think Luck goes 1st overall in the draft.

Problem is those signature wins are relative. TCU and Texas wouldnt be signature wins for Stanford or Bama or LSU.

And the talent around him is just as good as Stanford and Bama and LSU has, too.

Everyone knows the Gorza award is the only one that matters! Dan Bailey won it last year!

Could they have found a goofier looking trio to select as finalists? :laugh2:

No doubt.
The records are not comparable.

It reminds me of a few years ago when all teams played 11 games..period...before the bowl games. College presidents said for academic reason we could never have a playoff because 11 games (or 12 max) was enough.
LOL
Now there are teams with 14 games.

I just hope Richardson doesnt win, he is literally the least deserving candidate. His numbers, while good, are not as impressive as the other finalists and he's doing it behind an offensive line with four future NFL starters.

I'm going to quote what one of the Oklahoma State star defensive players said in class today. It went something along the lines of "Man, why is Andrew Luck invited to the Heisman and Brandon Weeden isn't? Brandon Weeden puts up the numbers, isn't going to a pissant bowl like Griffin and he won his conference. Those two didn't." I'm going to agree with him.

I think Griffin should win but Weeden should have been invited. What he has done for OSU has been amazing, but what what Griffin has done for Baylor has been even more amazing.

All predictions have Robert Griffin III running away with the Heisman.

And this Bear is happy! Signature moment for school's 112 year old football program, only it's fourth ever Heisman finalist, undeniably the best athlete in college football, probably the best quarterback to ever play in the Big 12, hands down the best passer ever to dawn a Baylor uniform and possibly the best football player to as well, for now that distinction is still Mike Singletary's.

Art Briles is to be commended for an uncanny ability to groom quarterbacks, he gave Griffin the chance to be a signal caller when everyone else saw a wideout, he recruited Kevin Kolb, RG3 and Case Keenum, word is a kid on Baylor's bench named Petty is all that himself (tough act to follow Griffin though).

Undeniably a Baylor Bear with a Heisman trophy is a recruitment tool bonanza, i would love RG3 back in 2012, and pray he doesn't go to any NFC East rivals when he does go pro, but Baylor will be having good quarterbacks for a long time to come now, thanks to Briles' recruitment and RG3's ability to make Baylor quarterback an attractive destination by setting the bar for what it is to be compared to for now on.

Weeden is seen as a system QB by many and one of those hasnt won the Heisman in over a decade.

Weeden is a QB, you're thinking of Blackmon. And Crabtree didnt win the Heisman.
