5. The Cowboys( our arch Rival) are having the season of there life and they pulled a franchise QB out of there ***, that will be Killing us for the next 8 years.
I love Tony Romo more and more each day.

Mon through Sat I view them as a professional sports organization that lost a member of their family.

I feel grief for their loss, and compassion for their pain. (although the biggest part of my grief & compassion is for ST's immediate family)

But on Sundays they become the stinkin' Washington Commanders again and I hope they lose every game, .. the more painful and embarassing the better. (Sunday was great!, .. the Pats game as well!)

I feel bad for the loss of a player, but I have not suddenly become a Commander fan in any way.

I'll be the contrarian here and say that they're really not that bad of a squad. I think their quarterback is young and has shown promise. Their record might not show it, but I think they're a better team than the Giants and Eagles. I also think they're the only team left on our schedule that has a chance of handing us an "L".

I thought I'd feel at least a little bit of sympathy for the Deadskins at this point, but I really don't.

Aside from the obviously unfortunate Sean Taylor incident, I'm fully enjoying the Skins' ride to the bottom of the bell curve and our meteoric rise to the top.

my sentiments exactly :laugh1: :laugh1:

I really think Gibbs gets thrown under the bus because of high expectations. Admittedly, the TO was bad, and he's very conservative, but he is getting a lot out of a not very talented team. In many ways, the Skins of 2005 remind me of the Cowboys of 2003. That Commanders team wasn't very good, but Gibbs managed to keep them in a lot of games and win ten, plus a playoff win despite 120 yards of offense.

The Skins are weak along both lines, and that is a recipe for disaster in the NFL. How they manage to be competitive with Fabini and Wade starting is really something to marvel at, IMO. And their secondary has been quite good when you consider the lack of pressure that the DL gets.

Gibbs is criticized for his lack of adjustments, but in my eyes, he's pretty hamstrung with the talent on that team. My guess is that he's coming up with a pretty good game plan during the week, and when, after halftime, the opponents take away the few things that work, the Skins are dead in the water.

The bottom line is, when the Skins must have a score or a stop they can't seem to get it against anyone.

They are as bad as their record indicates. Their QB is below average, they are decimated with injuries and their HC is a lost cause.

Well, the indians have done the same with the Chiefs, baseball Indians and Braves. If there is such thing as a curse, it wouldn't be just directed towards the skins.
Except Commanders is arguably far more offensive than Chiefs, Braves, or even Indians. The word Commanders was an insult from its origin.

This points out something I've never understood. First off, I'm not an American Indian or of Indian descent, at least that I'm aware of. So, I'm speaking from an admittedly distant perspective. That having been said, I don't know why American Indians would be offended by sports teams naming themselves the Indians, Braves, etc. It should be considered a show of respect to them. Why? Well hell, you don't name your sports franchise after something you don't like or respect. It's just the opposite. You name your team after something you do RESPECT, after something that symbolizes STRENGTH, GRACE, POWER, etc. I just don't get it. Am I the only person that sees it this way?

Maybe it's because many sports teams are named after animals and European immigrants to North America looked upon Native Americans as less-than-human. I don't know, just a guess.

the Commanders are going thru what we went thru in the late 90's, early 00's. there is an exception. Jerry learned and figured it out (cap, big contracts, free agency, etc), while Danny Dork-Boy hasn't.

And I hope he never figures it out, because watching the Blowskins fail, is like, like,,, like Bliss to me.

What? Are you saying American Indians want to get paid for these names being used? Not sure I follow your post.

Honestly, I would be quite offended if a major league team named itself:

the Ch*nks
the Chinamen
the Yellowskins
the Slanteyes

Just take a step back and look from someone else's perspective.

Yes, but not the same thing. The terms you posted are derogatory. I can see an argument against the Commanders for the same reason, but not the Braves, Indians, or Chiefs. Not the same thing. The American Indian is part of American history and forklore. Personally, I revere them and their culture. I simply see using the terms Braves, Chiefs, and Indians as team names as paying respect in some way. As I said before, you don't name your sports franchise after something you dislike or do not respect. Just the way I see it. The whole world has gone completely crazy over PC. I'm surprised Priest Holme's mother hasn't received complaints from Catholics. :lmao2:
