I used to complain about this a few years ago, before Zeke, when they would get pass Happy and abandoned the run in a game and lose.
The fans and local press would complain about the coaches abandoning the run.

Next game they would over run the ball to the point of it seeming like they were trying to prove some idiotic point.

Exactly!!!! I've said it for years, JJ and Red will do things just to spite the local media.

2011-2014 maybe. Dak does not know how to throw to Dez. I have a feeling Dez is going to go somewhere else and get back to his high pointing ways in a year or two.

He may very well have more success with another QB. I'm not a fan of forcing the call to Dez in general, but that end zone fade is fine by me. You just have to expect officials to call obvious interference.

If they don't, I'm not sure it matters much what's called.

Garrett has always been reactionary. That's what happens when you have very little experience. You can't change on the fly and overreact much later.

Watch a little kid play basketball. If he misses one badly to the left, the next one is going way right.
Nothing proves this point more than the back to back games several years ago where he was absolutely railed on by fans and media for passing 3(4?) plays in a role from the 1 yard line. Then followed it up the next week by stubbornly running every play in almost the exact same scenario with neither one resulting in TDs. It’s hard to remember the exact details but I’m sure you remember it as well.

When Garrett told Michelle Tafoya that the plan was to run the ball and throw dunks and dunks and something would break for them, that was the final straw.

I am completely out now on Garrett.
It’s a completely logical fallacy the way he wants to play the game. Slow, methodical 15 play drives to score is what they want to do. But then they turn around on defense and that’s how they want to force teams to beat them because it’s hard to put those drives together consistently. You’re content making other teams do that, but choose to do it yourself?

Not to mention this offense is horrible any time it gets behind the chains. Why they have grown so comfortable with a lack of big plays is actually baffling to me.

I don't disagree that the play was PI I am just talking in general. Dez would be better served in TB, Oakland, or Detroit where the QBs are more proficient at those types of throws. Dak simply cannot locate balls to spots 10' in the air outside.

I was hoping he would improve but he has not. If anything he got worse in that regard. He is making the same mistakes downfield and is less accurate underneath.

He said it is one extreme to the next. Against Atlanta they put Chaz Green on an island and pretty much let him play by himself and it was a disaster. Everybody criticizes them so what do they do, they leave pretty much the TEs in all game and help Bell on virtually every single play but totally take the TEs out of the passing game.

There is no middle ground, it goes from one extreme one week to one extreme the next week and always overcompensating for what didn't work.

If that is not a perfect description of this coaching staff, I don't know what is. They are always reactionary, making adjustments so far in the opposite direction it is comical.
Coaching staff has always been 2 steps behind and then they leap to overcompensate

Its kind of funny sitting back and watching the last few Garrett homers react to the losses and the times it was more than obvious he was getting out coached AGAIN. Im pretty sure the last game was the straw that broke the camels back for many....LOL

Clapping, slapping players on the butt, and yelling out HELL YEAH! is not what I would call an effective gameplan. At some point you need to actually scheme to take advantage of our teams strengths and cover our weaknesses while at the same time attack an opponents weaknesses and find a way to at least slow down their strong suits. Sadly,... this is what actual coaches do. Something we dont have with Jason Garrett.

Agreed. It's a total embarrassment. The Eagles make it work with multiple running backs. They make it work with a backup left tackle. They adjust on the fly. All things this Cowboys coaching staff either cannot or will not do.

If three players (Tyron, Zeke, and Lee) mean this much to the success or lack thereof of this team, there's a fundamental problem. I've been supportive of Jason Garrett before, but last night was the last straw.

Maybe it's time for a culture change.

Lets be fair - each of those players are pro bowl players and quite possibly be the best at each position in the league. If you take 4 pro bowlers from any team (including bailey) they are going to struggle to win games. Not an excuse for this coaching staff because the Vikings have managed quite well loosing their QB + RB, but our coaches couldn't coach up anyone in any situation.

If you read Broadus’ article after rewatching the film, he seems to praise wrinkles added by both Linehan and Marinelli, putting players in great position to make plays, but execution was poor. Guys on defense missed tackles or suddenly played tentative, and Dak seemed to make some poor decisions on what to do with the ball. Certainly doesn’t explain everything, but a good read.

I’ll just point out that it’s taken two years since the Vikings lost their QB for them to have success. It took an injury to Bradford for Keenum to get his shot, but they stunk it up without Bridgewater for two seasons.

It's also interesting how Garrett was not respected or went out of his way to alienate some of the best minds of the game:

Wade Phillips
Bill Callahan
Norv Turner

Heck even Tony Sparano could not stand him. And we know how T.O., Crayton and Holley felt about him. And other than building culture, what exactly has Garrett done specifically? He is not a draft guru, McKlay gets those props. He did not build the OL, Callahan and drafting get that credit. He does not call plays, that was Romo and Linehan. He coined the term Dirty Yards but always forgets about it's importance when the game gets tight or when he needs to protect a lead.

And it's one thing when the fans are calling you out, but when even media guys, many who actually played the game or worked in the FO, start doing it too, there is fire behind that smoke.
