Ugh. I dont want an interim on the staff winning a couple games and getting the gig. I want at least an attempt to look outside the building and see if anybody talented is actually willing to work for Jerry.

This is my fear as well, because we all just know it would be Zimmer slotted into the interim HC role. If he somehow rattles a couple wins off, you know what Jerry would do.

But there was hope on the horizon. Not just hope, everyone knew the team was going to get better.
Especially after the Walker trade.
Everyone knew all those players were tied to picks and no way they were not going to release them. Except one stayed, but he was tied to more like a 2nd or 3rd round pick. And he ended up being a key player.

This team and the salary cap. And the way the roster must keep some players. It is all hope.

That indicates to me that Jerry will once again saddle the new coach with the staff Jerry picked, not his own. What HC in their right minds would walk into this dysfunctional mess? I can honestly see Jerry promoting Zimmer to head coach thinking a healthy roster and a couple of additions will get them back to competing again.

Parcell retained Zimm and switched to a 3-4 D
