Help on the way for defense

Week 9 - Demarcus Lawrence
Week 11 - Bye Week
Week 12 - Josh Brent

I think we could potentially see an entirely different defense by week 12. And I think the key to this season is using our home field advantage and our easier mid season schedule to win as many games with our current defense as possible.

People are right Seattle is a big test, but losing to Seattle isn't a season breaker.

@home vs New York
@home vs Washington
@home vs Arizona
@London vs Jacksonville (Will basically be a home game against one of the worst teams in the league).

Then we go into the bye.

It's very feasible that we could go into the bye 8-2, and then come out of the bye with a pretty different looking defense capability wise.

Brent could play a big part in improving our run defense, and Lawrence could play a big part in improving our pass rush, especially on 3rd downs.

I think it is also reasonable that Week 12 Spencer and Melton will be significantly further along than they are now.

I see a victory in Seattle, followed by a loss vs NY

You see us beating Seattle, At their house. Then see us losing to NY?

No, we are most likely getting our *** kicked by Seattle.

So I guess that's 2 loses in a row.

Who here wouldn't have very happy at the start of the season going into the bye at 7-3.

No doubt....I will take it. And we are going to need it...because down the stretch we are on the road a lot. Which is why I am in favor of pacing Murray...because on the road in December...you will need to run the football. Especially in cold weather cities like Chicago, New York, Washington, Philly

6-4? Go home, you're drunk.

You really think we're going to go 2-3 in the easiest stretch of our season?

I would be reticent to forecast anything because Murray might be the MVP for Dallas right now. The guy is a workhorse and if he goes down then I don't see the offense rolling quite the same without him. Rushing, blitz pick up, receiving...more importantly, he is the 12th man of the defense. Dallas has almost 50 fewer snaps defended compared to last year. About 10 snaps per game on average so far. That in itself can help the defense stay healthier down the stretch this year. Arizona and New York still represent potential losses. I would say 7-3 because I think that at worse, they can split New York...3-2 over five games would not be catastrophic. It is entirely possible for them to have a game like last Sunday, but where they end up on the short end. This is a team that is still to trying build up its jaw. A close game with Seattle would reveal more.

That said, November has traditionally been a good month for Romo and co...it is the bedevilling and dastardly December that has been the perennial problem. A lot can change in 4-5 weeks, as evidenced by the resurgence of the Cowboys after a dreadful season opener. No one on this board can honestly say they could see 4-1 (after 5) following that game.

People are sleeping on the Giants. I thought going in they'd be one of the worst teams in the league, but the changes on offense have really covered up the OL limitations.

AZ I think still beats us straight-up if they have any stability at QB. Even in Dallas, I'd say that one's pretty close to a pick-em game, at best, for us.

We're getting some pieces in place. And having our LBs in the lineup really does transform our defense, but we're still not looking to me like a top team yet. Take better care of the ball, stay healthy defensively. Play better at S, and generate some rush from the down linemen, and I'll start to feel differently. We've got a shot to do all that by end of the year, but it's a long way to go, and taking wins from teams like the Rams and Titans is a good way to pad the record early on in the season. We've got the Sk*ns twice, and JAX, but, other than that, there are a lot of teams as good or nearly as good as we are on the schedule still ahead of us.

Agreed, people are sleeping on the Giants. They looked pathetic in the preseason and the first two games. They have come on gangbusters, Eli seems to be really clicking in this new offense unfortunately and their defense as usual is looking pretty good. Will not be an easy game once again.

Wondering how effective we think Lawrence and Brent are going to be. A rookie starting in week 9 and brent coming off a year in jail sitting on his but. I am not expecting Demarcus Ware and Anthony Spencer type production. They will spell the starters but I dont expect an impact of measurable magnitude.

This. We may have a time period for them to get back into football shape and integrate into the defense. Just because they are back does not mean they have any real impact for some time.

Hopefully only when he is the best option available and not to fit agendas.

I think it is obvious they are not giving playing time to fit agendas since has had no playing time so let's not open up that stinking can of worms again.
