Help on the way for defense

This. We may have a time period for them to get back into football shape and integrate into the defense. Just because they are back does not mean they have any real impact for some time.

Seriously. This isn't waiting tables.

Are we really counting on a guy who has 31 tackles in his career to come in and make a big contribution?

Toomer and Hamilton are two notable names to keep an eye on as well. Michael Sam is a possibility as well.

Wait, what's home advantage? Never heard of this in Jerry World.

But personally I'm really only worried about Lawrence and Spencer's uphill climb to something close to his former self. Edge pass rush is where we truly need the most help. If those 2 are healthy and playing even decent the D would be even more improved.

Brent makes no difference to me

I would settle for having Carter, Durant and McClain all healthy on a weekly basis. The more they play together, the better. I would not bet on Lawrence contributing much, but Spencer has a chance to improve as the season goes on...it is rare that players set the world on fire in the year following a major surgery...Spencer is playing on softer cartilage so his days are numbered from a career standpoint. He was coming out before he had the surgery so there is some hope that he can regain that level. If he had been just a backup player, then I would say he is likely never to be more than a backup.

I don't think anyone has suggested that in any way.

That's what this thread is about, Brent coming in and changing the defense. I just don't see it. It's not like he's a big time athlete that has kept his body in tip top shape. He's gonna need a long time, possible even an entire off season just to get in decent shape, not football shape.

I wouldn't be so sure of the shape he is in. He has been doing private workouts with Andre Gurode since he got out of jail. He's probably been lifting and running the whole time. And he's hungry.

With the way our run defense has been this season, Brent could make a huge impact.

People are sleeping on the Giants. I thought going in they'd be one of the worst teams in the league, but the changes on offense have really covered up the OL limitations.

AZ I think still beats us straight-up if they have any stability at QB. Even in Dallas, I'd say that one's pretty close to a pick-em game, at best, for us.

We're getting some pieces in place. And having our LBs in the lineup really does transform our defense, but we're still not looking to me like a top team yet. Take better care of the ball, stay healthy defensively. Play better at S, and generate some rush from the down linemen, and I'll start to feel differently. We've got a shot to do all that by end of the year, but it's a long way to go, and taking wins from teams like the Rams and Titans is a good way to pad the record early on in the season. We've got the Sk*ns twice, and JAX, but, other than that, there are a lot of teams as good or nearly as good as we are on the schedule still ahead of us.

I'm suspecting the Cowboys will have a special kinda lovin' in store for the Arizona Cardinals when they visit AT&T Stadium on November 2ND - as the Cards have bested the Boys the last three times they have faced them.

Quick short passes are fine but our corners and LB especially Scandrick, Moore and Carter have been very good at jumping those underneath routes.

And by week 12 he will be a completely fresh set of legs facing offensive linemen with tired legs and all the nagging injuries that accumulate during the season. He game is power, if he is in reasonable shape he should be able to contribute as a rotation player right away.

i think any adjustment is somewhat overstated because both players will be working live well before they play a game. --unless they suffer some other injury.
both guys will be expected to rotate in and out but i don't think they'll be worse than what we have now if only for 20 or so plays.
brent is obviously rusty but the guy has like 10 weeks to get in shape and a month to practice live.
that's like a training camp and full pre-season.

imho the important thing is they'll be there to help as other guys get dinged up.
if we need to sit hayden a week all of a sudden we probably can.
same for say selvie.

The Giants are well coached but they aren't very good.
They have one road win, over a 1 win Wash team with it's back up QB.
The other wins are over Houston and ATL, neither a world beater.
We get them at home and they come off a Sunday nighter in Philly.
I expect us to be a 4 point fave.

Sea on the road is a really tough task.
I'd guess 7-3 at the 10 game mark with a tougher schedule to close.
That last 6 games will be dependent a lot on how much the rest of the NFCE puts up a fight and how many injuries we suffer.

Put the koolaide down if you think we are going to be 8-2.

Both AZ and NY are going to be really tough games.

It's not just me. The kool aide reference is unoriginal, old, and weak. Please find another.
Thanks!
