Henson isn't gonna get a shot here while BP is here. BP doesn't have time to waste on him being 25 or so, he needs to win now and Bledsoe is his chance. I hope they draft a QB in next years draft like Vince Young or another young mobal QB,but one with good character unlike Quincy Carter. Groom him a year under Bledsoe and than his second year throw him in there. There only prolonging the inevitable w/ bringing in old talented QB's.

Yeah, I thought about this last night. Bledsoe is the QB for the remainder of Bill's tenure be that 2 or 3 more years, unless he really bombs and we are losing a lot of games because of his play.

I don't agree right now, with the pick for Young even though he's an amazing athlete. First of all we probably won't get a shot at him and second, I believe he will find the transition to an NFL offense difficult. He is one that won't be ready to step in and play right after he's drafted.

Henson will, most likely, finally get his shot in a couple of years or so because he isn't being released, (Jerry won't allow that), and he is as good a developmental 3rd type QB as you will find to put on your roster.

Whoever messed up Henson's delivery over the summer should be canned. His accuracy was very good last year and I don't recall an inordinate amount of knocked down passes. He threw no ducks and had excellent velocity. I really think they set out and fixed a problem that didn't really exist.

Actually I think its a sign of the long-term strategy in place with Henson.

When they decided to make the switch, they HAD to know Drew wasn't going to be 100% comfortable with it going into camp.

However, they also knew that next year he should be, and will be a better QB down the road for having made the correction.

The 'advantage' of signing a QB like Drew "on the cheap" is you are not forced to throw him out on the field no matter what because of what you are paying him, al la Eli last year. It is one of the few opportunities you will ever have to develop a potential #1 talent at a reasonable pace, and I have always liked the move for its pro-activeness.

The fact that they altered his mechanics in the offseason shows that next year was always going to be Drew's litmus year from day one, not this year. If they were counting on him to be anything this year they wouldn't have messed with him, IMO.

Lastly, I didn't really think Drew's problems against Seattle were arm or mechanics related. On the INT he simply didn't recognize the coverage (although, for everyone harping on him, if you watch that play again Witten was his 3rd check down - enough with the 'focus' on 1 receiver nonsense). He has far better pocket awareness then Hutch ever did, but he still showed some happy feet and made a few poor decisions.

Drew will get his shot to compete next year, and if he shows the same progress and comfort going forward in comfort with the offense and confidence in the pocket that Romo has showed from year 2 to year 3, we are all going to be very happy IMO.

Good post. Totally agree. His change in mechanics have very little to do with his struggles, IMHO. Just the natural learning curve of a long term project, nothing more and nothing less.

Also, its funny to say he should have been on the field last year to see if he was mentally tough enough to handle the job, and then turn around and say he's not mentally tough enough to handle a mechanics correction without totally losing all of his confidence and letting everything fall to pieces.

I think the mechanics clearly effected him early in camp. I think he's started to work through them. The mistakes he's making now are rookie mistakes. I agree with both of you. I don't know, I watch him and he really doesn't look all that different from any young QB seeing playing time in the NFL. He has done some nice things and he has made some poor decisions. Any QB, at any point in there development have done the same.
