Henson's made me a Fire fan

I get the fact you were joking about others saying people were COMPARING Henson to Elway/Favre. I did not understand who you were referring to as jerk0$$'s . And in the end it doesn't matter if you were referring to me or the people you were mocking to begin with, it is a little crude and childish, thus losing credibility. Are we all on the same page now?

I was referring to others. We're on the same page, credibility-gestapo.;)

Yeah, Henson's the next Montana. You just lost ALL credibility.:lmao2:

:eek: :confused: :rolleyes: :mad: :( :eek:: :) :lmao2: :bang2: :banghead: :laugh2: :laugh1: :starspin :star:

I am sure you have prtty good opnions and most of the time I like what you say, but I happen to disagree with you about Henson.

Which is rather bizarre, since all I've said is it's too early to judge yet... I have pointed out the things he's doing well, and the things that aren't so good... I have pointed out his inconsistency from game to game...

Now, what part of that strikes you as illogical?? Actually, it's YOUR cynical certainty that he'll never amount to jack that's illogical... at least, you haven't offered an rational reasons supporting that position...

I think it is funny that you think my attitude is lousy since yours is not much better.

Then why would you care about my opinions on Young, Leinart and Cutler?? Do you often solicit the opinions of people with questionable attitudes??

My reasons for asking your opinion was to see if you would say if one of them was bound to fail. By your own logic you cannot criticize any player until he has played a significant amount of time in the NFL. Also you definition of a fan is illogical. You can be a fan and still criticize a player.

I'm pleased with how Henson's played in NFLE, and I'm one of his biggest supporters, but let's not get carried away here, gang... he's played 4 games over there, in two of them he played pretty well, in two of them he was mediocre to bad...

He hasn't exactly dominated that league (though some of that is because his OL and WRs aren't particularly good), his completion percentage is still a hair under 60 per cent, and his yards per attempt average isn't that impressive either... let's remember, it's a big jump in talent level from that league to the NFL... I seem to remember that James Whalen, Jeremaine Copeland and Duane Hawthorne all kicked major butt in their time over in Europe, but none of them went on to NFL greatness, did they??

Don't get me wrong, I'm reasonably pleased with his play so far, and as I said, I think his numbers would be better if his receivers didn't drop so many flippin' passes, or his offensive line gave him a little more time in the pocket. But there's a long way to go yet, and I'd like to see a little more consistency in his performance than I've seen to date... thus far, he's been up and down like your average everyday yo-yo...

Some of the things I've particularly liked is his mobility when escaping the pass rush, and just one interception in 86 pass attempts...

great post SB.

i have watched all his NFLE games so far. he seemed the most "comfortable" in the last game and seemed to "just be playing" rather than thinking about not making a mistake.

while he needs to make improvements, i said before the season that what i needed to see from him the most is 1) not make stupid mistakes causing interceptions, 2) get TDs not FGs, and 3) win games and so far he has done all 3 of those.

he also has another 6 games to improve and the best part is that this off season DB will be in his second year with the Cowboys so most likely the back-ups will get more playing time in pre-season.

i for one am excited and optimistic about his future.

Well, you would have been disappointed... I'll say I don't particularly care for a player, if that's the way I feel, but I believe only a card-carrying idiot would be so asinine as to step up and say "that guy will be a bust in the NFL", without ever seeing him play a down in that league...

Also you definition of a fan is illogical. You can be a fan and still criticize a player.

Criticize, yes; root for him to fail, no... with Henson, you're most assuredly doing the latter...

Look, I hate TO, I mean I just LOATHE him... and I'll refuse to root for him, even in a Cowboys uniform... but I will NOT root for him to fail (the stuff I wrote about rooting for a career-ending injury was tongue-in-cheek, I never root for any player to get hurt, let alone badly hurt)...

And even that position causes me a moral dilemma, because it goes against my natural grain not to root for anybody wearing that uniform...

Just a note: If any player on the Cowboy's roster fails it only hurts the team in general. That means we would be forced to spend a Draft Choice or money in FA to fill a spot.

It can only be a positive for our team if Henson or Romo prove to be capable of being the future replacement for Bledsoe. As for me, I hope both are capable, that would be good trade bait for a starting OL or DL, a draft choice or whatever else we need.

Criticism is one thing but rooting for a player on our team to fail is down right treason.

No it wasn't about seeing him fail it was the fact that that play 9 out of 10 times if going to be a INT in the NFL. Why praise him for that?
ummmmmm......I don't know, because it worked? <geez>

I like this thread.

I like how the NFLE jerseys have the logo of the NFL team the player is allocated from at the neckline. Be a fun jersey to have.

That would be cool...

Why is the star so small on those jersey's and the NY for the Giants and the G for Green Bay SO BIG....

....and we may finally have a QB that can roll out in the redzone. I've always been a fan of the rollout inside the twenty. It seems to break down the coverage a bit b/c the DBs are caught in no man's land deciding whether they should play the scrambling QB or stay w/ the TE or WR.

Very interesting... never thought about that... so true...

I gotta tell ya... I am a Henson supporter(just want a good QB really) but anyways...

I have read about his side arm(3/4 delivery) whatever it is and when I watch him play in Europe I see a playmaking QB but...

  1. the sidearm is a little weird and will probably be a problem
  2. throwing across the body will fail more times than succeed
  3. leading RB's and WR's and TE's into a BIG HIT is not good either
I like his physical toughness, I like his seemingly good mental toughness, he has some scramble(against these guys anyway), he has some of that TOM BRADY coolness in him and he shows signs of making good decisions... but as someone put, not consistently... just my thoughts

I've watched all the Fire games on NFL-TV. #7 is making steady improvement, more confident, making good decisions, making some difficult throws and looking in command of the offense. Very, very encouraging. Yea, it's NFLE but it's live competition. Yea, we have to wait for preseason to fully gage his improvement. The team's patience may well pay off.

"The team's patience may well pay off."

Wouldn't that be something? Patience paying off.
