I would take this thread far more seriously if the OP had offered more than an unsolicited one sentence opinion without a shred of information, data, or logical structure as to why he feels this way.

I'm sorry, but I can't take it seriously at all. I don't think he did.

A back doesn't have to be Emmitt Smith to be a good, useful player and that's what Pollard is.

To be honest the only thing I'm worried about assuming Zeke is out Sunday is blitz pickup. Pollard is not good at all in this area.
Time for that extra guard package lol.

Julius Jones was good for 7-8 games his rookie season. After that, meh

A very not special player. Got something of a name as a rookie for 100 yard games over half a season his rookie year, but that was mostly about getting almost 25 carries/game and not carrying that load the whole season.

Whoa -- what we have here is too many critics who prefer to call themselves fans! Julius Jones and Tony Pollard were and are both excellent RBs who have done their best to help this team survive and prosper. What is it that compels so many of us to criticize those who give their all for their team?! It's downright shameful to be such phony malcontents, then foolishly contend we're fans, throughout it all. Let's have a little dignity, fellas! o_O

You critics know who you are -- let's try to be a bit fairer from now on, ok?

He’s better than the OP gives him credit for. Is he as talented as year 1&2 Zeke? No, but he’s got excellent burst and decent vision. Obviously, speed and agility are pretty good. We’ll see if he can carry the load on Sunday.

He’s julius jones with a better line, he’s not special abd not a no.1

Pollard is averaging 5.6 ypc. So what does that say about your injury prone, slow and plodding hero Zeke that all he can muster is 3.8 ypc? And behind a "better line"?

Wow, he must really suck then? Thats nearly 2 ypc less.

Sort of a sideways attempt to discredit Zeke, but I like it.

He’ll make a few plays but he’s not a no.1 back.

A few plays is better than no plays right?

All the guy does is take the carries he is given and average 5.6 ypc. And never complains about his role.

What is there not to like? Why would you try to discredit that? LOL

Are you some kind of sad troll? Are you Zeke's mother?

He will be fine carrying the load for a couple games. In my opinion he would lose some of his burst/explosiveness if he had to do it every game. Lead back has to have multiple runs up the gut to keep D honest but all those hits take a toll on the body especially if you’ve never been that type of lead back.

He's not a superstar but he fits in very well on this team. I'm happy to have him. I wouldn't break the bank to keep him, though.

Based on the number of opportunities he is given he is one of the best backs in the NFL from an efficiency standpoint. Cant fault the guy because the coaches are a bunch of morons that would rather play some old war horse averaging 3.8 ypc.

I wouldnt break the bank on ANY back. However, I would definitely sign him to around 4 or 5 million/ year for two years and team him with another young back or two from next years draft. Bottom line is he makes plays. And he doenst need 20 carries in order to affect a game. Doesnt need 20 carries to make plays and have an impact. Perfect back to have a RB by committee approach.

Pollard is much faster!
Every time I think of Julius Jones I remember him wearing these shoulder pads that look like he a watermelon on each shoulder. He ran so square that if the hole wasn't 4 feet wide he would hit that shoulder pad on a player and go down. On a side note it was a big mistake passing on Stephen Jackson.

That's okay how much better would Julius Jones have appeared with a better line.

Pollard doesn't have to be special he doesn't have to be a number one he doesn't have to be anything in any fans mind.

He just has to do his job and get 5 yards a carry behind our line and avoid getting injured so we can beat the Bears and move on to the bye week and get healthy.

That's it That's all we need he doesn't have to be a former Heisman trophy winner or an MVP candidate or a first ballot Hall of famer.

He just needs to be able to keep doing the job he has been doing consistently behind what we have now as an offensive line.

What's up with this fan base just trying to discredit guys that have been doing their job for no reason at all??

I think he definitely can be a #1, but he just isn’t a bell cow back that can carry the ball 300 times a year. He’s always going to need a companion back IMO but there’s nothing wrong with that and very few teams now just run one guy out there all game successfully and for a number of years. Is he elite? No, but he’s great at what we ask him to do and I think you’ll see tomorrow that in short spurts he can carry the load as well.

We all know he’s got the ability out in space to make big plays, but my favorite Pollard plays are when he fires through the hole right up the gut before it closes and gets to the second and third level for a nice chunk gain before the defense knows what hit them. Love having this guy on the team. He’s the type of guy that makes the whole team better than the sum of its parts.
