yea, but the spurs have only been in the nba since 1976. averaging a title a decade ain't too shabby. there are plenty of nba teams who would love to be able to say that....like say....the mavs.

no one is saying the spurs are the greatest franchise ever, but you fail to give them any credit at all.

i mean, the bulls went from 1966 to 1991 without any titles, yet you hold them so much higher than san antonio, and they had the luxury of the greatest player in the history of the nba on their roster.

doesn't make much sense to me to focus on SA's low points when they have had so many high ones.

somebody else had the sixers up there higher than SA, too, in one of these threads. i have no problem with that, but what have they done in the last 24 years? so, why can we ignore their recent bad years, but not SA's bad years that were back in the 1980's?

not making sense to me.

here is my point...yes, the spurs had their years of mediocrity, like EVERY TEAM in EVERY SPORT has. even our beloved cowboys. but what is significant is not those years, but that they finally rose above those seasons, and came home with the trophy. multiple times. that, after all, is the name of the game. to talk like it doesn't matter that they acheived the highest honor in the sport due to their once poor past is nothing short of silly.

this is a lame argument on your part. sorry.

You may need to re-read the thread. No one is pretending that the Spurs titles don't matter. It's a simple matter of Spurs fans acting like "Title snobs" because they've had some recent success... like Pats fans.

Yes, the Spurs came into the league in 1976. The Mavs came to the league in 1980. The Spurs had a 4 year head start and none of the "expansion team growing pains." So if you look at the timelines, the Mavs had until 2003 to match the 1999 Spurs title, not counting the growing pains. So we're a few years behind? Yet you all act like NBA royalty while the Mavs are a bunch of peons. Some perspective was needed.

Celtics...actually they could probably take all five top spots with their history.

Lakers

Bulls

Philly (not just under the 76ers name)

Pistons

NY Knicks (they have won two but have been to 8 championship games)

do you mean the philly warriors? cuz thats an entirely different franchise

The Cowboys ARE NFL royalty. :D

But really, we've been to more Super Bowls than anyone, and are tied for most wins.

But really, we're no better than the Texans or Jaguars... we just got a head start on them. ;)

3 titles in 7 years is worth bragging about any day of the week. and you may not consider the spurs NBA royalty, but there are only 3 franchises that have more championships than SA, so what does that make the mavs who have won...nothing?

and i love the pats comparison too. especially since they are one of only two teams in the history of the league to win 3 super bowls in 4 years.

but yea, i could see why all of that is unimpressive.

especially coming from a fan whose team has never won anything. the really funny part is, if the mavs ever win a title, you will probably be the first one to tell us how amazng their franchise is.

This is completely beside the point. It has nothing to do with Pats vs. Spurs. It's Pats FANS vs. Spurs FANS. They're both equally annoying. Pats fans tend to declare themselves the greatest franchise ever after their recent success... and btw only 3 teams have more SBs than them, just like the Spurs.

And the Mavs have nothing to do with that attitude. It's just something I see. I've never once declared that the Mavs are on the Spurs level, but you don't seem to comprehend that. You perceive an argument's being made when it's not.

Since when do you know what I would be doing at a certain point in the future that may or may not be reached? You sure do profess to know a lot, without knowing me. Must be that royalty, know-it-all attitude typical of most Spurs fans.

Oh... and right back at ya.

exactly why the pats fans, like the spurs fans, deservedly brag about their teams. the fact that you find it annoying is your problem, not ours.

i never said you thought the mavs were on the spurs level. that's pretty obvious, after all.

But your viewpoint that the spurs (and pats for that matter) should be discredited b/c of what happened before they were good is a pretty dumb notion at best.

hey, i said 'if" and "probably." :p:

hey, while you're calling me royalty....go get me a beer, sucka. :lmao2:

Again I ask... do you speak English?? You seem to be having problems with the simplest of points.

I'd say the Mavs are better right now, but considering they can't even beat the Warriors, I'm gonna have to pass on this argument.

Sigh...........................................

(But yeah, Spurs have the hardware, Mavs have the Philadelphia trophy case. Now, that'd change if the freaking Mavs could beat the freaking #8 seed freaking Golden freaking State Warriors.)

That is all.

Dont count my Nuggets out just yet. I know there is a lot of basketball to be played but the Spurs are going to have their hands full especially in Denver.

its just gonna be a repeat of the 2005 series, AI or no AI, Duncan, Ginobili, and Parker arent gonna ALL play like crap at the same time again, that was like the first time that happened in the playoffs in a long time, and it was still mostly a close game, so im not concerned at all.

I'm very nervous about playing the Nuggets. They have two superstars and a lot of very talented guys to support them, as well as guys that match up well against Duncan defensively.

Duncan will tear them apart in game two, im more concerned with ginobili's play. But it is very encouraging that robert horry had a really good game, as did finley. I think it might be a good idea to start oberto too, he did very well while he played, i think elson is jittery of playing his old team.

I hope so. I just get very pessimistic and negative once the playoffs roll around.

I don't know if we can keep counting on performances like that from Horry... I keep expecting him to fall apart at any minute... but I guess he this is just what he does year in and year out.
