I am over the DeMarco Murray leaving fiasco. He is an Eagle, I hope he fails miserably.
However, he made our defense better because of the load he carried.

With that being said, Our number one goal during the off-season should be to make our defense better, basically to completely rebuild it. With a better defense last year, we might have won the Super Bowl. Why are we continuing to rely on good coaching to try to make bad defensive players good. A countless number of teams have upgraded their defenses tremendously so far in the past couple of weeks. There have been a lot of players at every position available for the taking, and we have sat still and let them sign with other teams. It doesn't really matter what the reason is, current cap, or not wanting to get into future cap Issues, RKG, counting on draft, etc.

Here is the bottom line. Just like 2007, JJ knows last years success bought him time with fans. We had a good enough year that the team made a ton of money, and now he doesn't have to spend it just to appease those of us who would love long term success. He sucked all of us right back into that "we are the Dallas Cowboys, the best entertainment in the NFL", it doesn't matter who we have, or how many wins we have. We will still be the most valuable franchise in the world.

Unless they have put up a huge smoke screen and have plans for a couple guys like AD or Hardy, or have a trade for some big defensive help, mark my words, we are back to an 8-8 team. We will be told we had success in '14, and we can do it again. It's all part of the process.

Why is it that everyone in the world knows Dallas has defensive problems, but we are seeing nothing done to fix it. I mean except for bringing in guys like Rivers and Brinkley. Too excited about seeing those two all pro guys start for us.

Last question. If JJ is really not running the team anymore. If he has been handcuffed, or has willingly given more power to SJ, why don't they hire a real GM? Enough with this nonsense!!!

This isn't about JJ sucking us back in. These moves clearly show SJ is in charge at Valley Ranch

Are we a better team than last year? No.

Have we used free agency to improve the roster? No

Do all teams have an opportunity to improve in the draft? Of course they do.

This idea that we will just improve through the draft is stupid. Every team will try, including the teams we view as competition to win the NFC.

Another ridiculous idea being thrown out over and over again. We only added a few players last year and looked how that turned out. 12-4! The team was cutting salaries and admitted several times they felt they were going to have a down year. Their thinking last year wasn't to build a contender, it was to get by. Now, some of you want to think the same "strategy" will pay off this year.

Did we get better? No. The Front Office is scrambling and signing random back-up's. This team had several holes going into free agency and now they have more. Even the 1974 Steelers' draft couldn't fill all of this team's holes.

I'm going to wait till after the draft to give an opinion on how much the FO improved the defense.
Besides, it's only 3 or so days into free agency. Rarely do the teams that strike big deals with free agents come out as winners.

Winner. Winner. Chicken enchilada dinner!

Who so far do you think the FO clearly had their sites on but didn't get?

I would argue that for these first couple of days they had their sites set on no one.
So in their minds, for right or wrong, they are right on schedule.

I'm pretty sure that's the biggest part of the argument. They're not targeting anyone yet.

Our defense was not the reason our season ended, a botched red flag challenge was. Sure I want our D to get better but if that doesn't happen, it's not the end of the teams hopes to advance. It's premature at this point to think our D won't have some upside additions. Patience

So you rationalization is that the Front Office had no intention on improving?

To the OP.. what SPECIFIC moves would you have made or would have like to have seen made 3 days into FA?

Im not OP and he's not gone yet, but Hardy hasn't even been mentioned for a visit. Sheard, never even got a visit. Morgan, no visit. Those are three guys that fit the need who have been glossed over.

Whatever reason the FO has, we have no recourse but to trust them. We are all going to watch next year. If the defense is a dumpster fire, we will be back at 8-8 and practically everyone on the planet will know exactly why.

Dallas doesn't have to wait until the first week is over to make deals they stand by to guys. They could already be bringing in and offering deals to the second and third tier pass rushers. They're not even doing that. I don't think anyone outside of the Ranch has any idea what is going on.

If were not going to improve, I almost wouldn't mind doing a bail out job like NO.

How many draft picks have they picked up already from all there trades? Plus they are not throwing in the towel obviously as they are signing players.

Here's the difference. Free agency has changed. You know it's a different ball game now. This isn't about a couple of big time FA's the board. This is about, almost nobody is untouchable. If you want to make your team better at any position. Do it!! Upgrades were available, . We lost more starters and major contributors than any team out there.

So to be clear, today 3/13/15 you're concluding we will finish 8-8? Are we finished or do we still have a chance to improve and solidify our defencies? Is there maybe a process or circumstances that have not been made clear yet to the public eye? Just asking?

Did you just choose to ignore the "if" in order to argue?

Also, I pretty much said EVERYTHING you just said.

Of course not. And you know that's not what I am saying.

An awful lot of people say for the first two days of free agency you should turn off the phones it's so stupid. It's extremely rare that these big signings pay off--though there are certainly exceptions.

I was just saying what I thought their position was for a couple of days until the madness subsides. There are still about 150 days or more before their season starts; I'm not going to crap my pants over the first 2-3 days.

My guess is that Will McClay is not an idiot.

I've asked this a few times with a couple of ok answers but mostly crickets

Who exactly would YOU have signed for the price that they were signed at given our cap and roster needs?

I have a couple I would have least kicked the tires on, but the vast majority would have been out of the question.
