It is both hilarious and fascinating at the same time. To me, the cat lost all traction with his hind paws on the first attempt. It is like the floor was extremely slippery.

The second attempt looks different, kinda like the cat changed its mind in mid-attempt. On the third attempt, the cat purposefully inches up a bit closer to the counter, gets its hind legs and paws solidly underneath, squares up with the counter and confidently makes the jump.

Trial and error gets results.
