Here's how I view the 26th pick

I find it hard to believe anyone had WIlliams and Hyatt on equal footing unless you are saying Williams was severely downgraded because of the ACL?
Williams would be the #1 WR prospect in this class. Much better prospect than Hyatt IMO.

If the team is smart? Definitely. Hyatt can bring a home run threat when he’s on the field. What does Michael Gallup currently bring?

And two wrongs don’t make a right. You don’t compound the contract error by forcing him on the field or passing on improving the position.
If he is BPA at #26 then draft him. If not then don't.

I don't think Hyatt will be BPA at #26.

Yea, I honestly don’t see much difference. Similar size, athletic profile and 1 year production in the SEC.
And the stat that almost everyone mentions that won't get credited to Hyatt is less safeties in the box which helps the run and short to intermediate passing plays even if he only gets one or two catches a game. The other thing is I think he could contribute right away doing exactly what he did in college without having to adjust that much while he hones his skillset as a WR.

Hyatt can come in and run gos, posts, comebacks, slants, crossers etc right out the gate. And like you said his deep speed paired with Cooks is going to make the safeties back off. With Cooks and Hyatt on the outside who you guarding 1:1 while giving Lamb extra attention in the slot? Gluck.

He might not light up the stat sheet year 1 but his game would add a big boost to the O.

Did you forget about pre-injury Gallup?
Yeah that was years ago. The guy we had last year was trash. Did we all forget about prime Zeke? No, but that guy was long gone. I'm not at all hopeful Gallup can come back

The NFL rankings are garbage. Sanders is the #10 guy and Hyatt #11. Give me a break. Hyatt is not nearly as good as Williams. Go watch the tape. Williams would EASILY be WR 1 in this class.

I don't think that's a bad pick either if they go edge. But he'd be one of multiple edge guys on the roster whereas Avilia could be a plug and play LG and log 900+ snaps for us (of course barring injury).
With the pick at guard, it also bolsters the fact that Zeke is no longer protecting Dak on pass plays, without a doubt Zeke could block with passion and diligently. That aspect of his game will not be easily replaced.

I agree.

While I do like the idea of drafting Avila, I like it a whole lot more at #40 - with the proper draft compensation - than I do at #26.
Id be ok with a trade down for Avila. Much like Frederick. Grab another 2nd/3rd. Get Avila towards the bottom of round 1 and secure the 5th year option.

The 5th year option is nice, but not a must for me. As long as I get good draft compensation.
