The time has come. And the curtain is about to rise. The challenge you face is like no other. Like the Yankees, Dallas too, is a great franchise that takes great pride in winning.

The history and the accomplishments of this team is something that we fans take a lot of pride in. To say the least, the word "scrutiny" is an understatement - always has been, so don't take it personal.

But I'm one of the ones who has dished it out. I'm the guy that drove by you and never acknowledged your Will Work For Food sign ... followed by the very next day where you were at the same corner and I shouted, "BUM"!

I never gave you a chance. My team is my team and I don't like handouts.

Don't take this personal, but it seems you've gotten quite a few of those in your silver spoon-like life. You've abandoned almost everything you touch ... you had a chance to gain experience playing football. Instead, you left early squandering that opportunity to play baseball. Then you left ... to play football ...

But if it was football you wanted that extra year in college wouldn't have been a bad idea now, would it?

But I digress ...

Let sleeping dogs lie, right?

You're a Dallas Cowboy now ... and a Yankee no more. Even though it feels awkward, I've got to welcome you, root for you, cheer for you ... and hopefully praise you if you do well. I'm not above that. Though my discontent about things associated with you have made me nauseous, I'm willing to look past that if you're able to help the team.

And there's no better time to show that than right now. Right here, good buddy. It's the preseason. It's the time to show what stuff you're made of. I hope you knock 'em dead tonite!

Show me some pedigree!

Go Cowboys!

And here's to you, Drew Henson.

Well said BNA.

And if any doubt that you're truly a fan of the Cowboys, this post right here should put those thoughts to rest.

Spoken like a true fan.

I do know that you'd support him 100% if he turns out to be a good QB.

Great post but I do take exception with any professional or collegiate athlete that is said to be handed everything with a silver spoon.

Guys that are born and have the genes to become 6' 5 " or 6' 4" typically will get every advantage through their childhood to succeed in sports.

HOWEVER, to say he has been given a silver spoon is not right. Sports is not like politics where George W. Bush is the perfect example of the silver spoon analogy fitting to a tee. Even he to a degree still had to earn a tremendous amount otherwise one of the other brother would have been President.

In sports, you eventually have to prove it on the field.

Drew Henson did not set all kinds of High School records for the state of Michigan in football and baseball by having it handed to him regardless of his physical talent.

Also, At U of Michigan, you don't split time with Tom freakin Brady whose a few years older and the veteran and split time with him, be the starter for one season and win a bowl game because it is handed to you.

Look around, there is plenty of guys nowadays that has the same size as Drew Henson and can't get close to playing on a professional field.

This is about rooting for Henson because he's a Cowboy ... however, you exaggerate a little here. Setting records in high school doesn't necessarily translate into anything really ... you have to perform at a higher level ...

The 'silver spoon' reference was meant to be in correlation with him leaving college and baseball etc ... not having really accomplished anything (except a bowl game), but showing "potential" or "pedigree" or what have you, but leaving prematurely ....

In that sense, he has been handed things based on his percieved potential and not necessarily his proven play, especially as of late.

But ...I don't want to steal the thunder of my letter by responding with any sort of negative argument ... so I'm going to leave it at that ... and a wish the little bastid well ... and put my negative perception aside and let my homerism take over for at least the remainder of the day ...

In other words, I'm rooting for Drew Henson because he's a Cowboy, ******!

Go Cowboys!

I know ... for some it's hard to understand what it's like to be passionately concerned about your team ...

Right now though, I'm just rooting for them .... even if it is just preseason.

While it will be interesting to see what Henson does tonight, it won't mean that much really. After all, it is only the first preseason game of the year. If he plays great - does that mean he will play great all year? Nope. If he plays like crap - does that mean he will play like crap all year? Nope. He is in a no win situation. However he plays, the perception is that is how he will play all year. So I will be hoping for the best tonight but will also remember it is what it is - just a preseason game.
