...I remember a lot of the mocks had us taking Holmes due to our need for a young, speed WR. Guess we see how that worked out.

Holmes has become one of the most dangerous players in the league, while Barbie remains a wedge buster. :bang2:

I wouldn't even go that far.

I never thought Holmes was all that and with his brushes with drugs I would not count on him for long. Still he really stepped up tonight and hats off to him.

Our scouting department hits a lot more than they miss and posting this is being way to critical and unfair.

Yes we were. Didnt you know, parcells was supposed to draft all the superstars in every round of every year he was here.

he was also supposed to win 5 superbowls, while coaching only 4 seasons.

therefore he sucks.

Holmes would have just questioned Garrett's play-calling and complained about Romo not throwing him the ball. He is what he is because he plays on a Pittsburgh team that built through the Draft and has very strong leadership from the top down, along with a vision of how to keep their team competetive year in and year out.

I just had to swallow because I threw up in my mouth a little bit when I realized that Pittsburgh is indeed the antithesis of this years Dallas team. What a crappy offseason this is going to be.

Not really. Carpenter was Tuna's hand picked player and he is a STIFF. Plain and Simple.

Everyone was saying that year that we needed a young, stretch the field WR and Holmes was the top rated one in that draft. Tuna reached for a LBer because his dad played for him and he let a top playmaking WR get away even though it was a position of great need.

Holmes didn't just show out tonight. He's been a true game changing player the past couple of years while Barbie is on his way out of the league.

Not really huh?

We draft as well as anyone. Really.

You're just looking to cry about something. Really.

I'm not crying. Really.

But it was a very bad first round pick and we passed on the top rated player at the position of our greatest need at that time. Several people said it at the time and tonight just highlighted it again. Really.:D

How about Carp over Demeco Ryans?

And Spencer over Woodley?

Can you imagine a LB core of Woodley-Ryans-James-Ware?

we haven't committed to drafting a receiver before and after Parcells

when was the last time we used a 1st day pick on one?

Hindsight is a beautiful thing. Funny how no one was really clamoring for Holmes until after tonight.

Outside linebacker was a huge hole for us going into that season and a lot of people thought Carpenter was the most safe pick in the draft.

It's always hindsight in looking at the draft.

That's the way it is and it's not unfair. It's the only way to judge the performance of your talent evaluators. It's THE basis for hiring and firing GMs, personnel guys and scouts.

Looking back on it, someone should explain why Barbie was the 18th best player (or higher) on our board and the #1 rated WR was below him.
