For immobile Cooper Rush not getting sacked a single time against the Giants and just 1 time against the Bengals is a sign of excellent pass protection by the Oline more than it is Cooper Rush being able to beat the blitz.

He is more decisive on what he wants to do and gets the ball out quickly. He appears to call for blocking adjustments and movement to get a read on a defense. He also does not audible out of runs every chance he gets.

Lets hope, as he says, watching the game from the sideline he's observed how simple the game can be and starts incorporating some of Rush's composure and control. There's rumor's that KM is going to give Dak TWO running plays rather than one of each.

A blitz plays into Cooper's strengths. Not a great arm, but seems to have a great head. Makes accurate reads and keeps cool under pressure. Blitzing just thins out coverage, giving him more room to fit in the ball.

That’s not exactly true, just a part of the equation. You cannot discount how quickly Rush reads the defense and get the ball out. Add accuracy to that as it’s just important to be able to hit the receiver when quickly under duress.

I think a better statistic is QB under pressure. Very few are good under pressure, it's a matter of how bad they are. I've seen some of the best QBs in the league fold like a cheap paper back.

Are we saying Rush is better at handling the blitz than Dak? It's kind of a small sample size for Rush. lol

What that stat suggests is that one of Rush positives is composure under pressure.....this is the continual issue with Dak First fan's, they feel threatened admitting to Rush having any positives. The fact that Rush looks settled against pressure is something that Dak (and his fans) should learn from (not dismiss as small sample size).

There are indeed other factors at play, but again that's still the responsibility of the QB:reading the Defense, changing O-Line assignments, changing to run play and as identified by @Vtwin and @nobody

No matter what one thinks about Rush as a QB, it's hard to dispute how quickly he processes the defense. Easy to see he's a student of the game. He just wasn't blessed with the natural abilities to ever be elite in my opinion. Too bad because he has the head for it.

I never want to see any player injured, but I think most of us didn't realize Rush's football IQ. The guy has really put in work just to stay in the league. I'll always root for guys like that.

Rush has the third highest QB rating this year after 3 games against the blitz in the NFL.

That's what it says.

It doesn't say he is better than any QB on that list, or any other QB in the NFL.

I don't think anyone is getting it twisted.

Too late, Rush in the locker room and in the huddle is always singing "You can ring my behhlll, ring my bell". However recovering Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa has gotten wind of this and is really pissed off.

Actually, I am more interested in knowing who the top 5 NFL quarterbacks are that can do the fox-trot in the pocket.

he does get that ball out quickly. That’s his strength. Makes a decision quickly. His velocity keeps me on the edge of my couch watching them play. Going back to Minnesota last year he has a few plays each game where you think his pass is going to result in an interception. But it doesn’t. I think it says a lot about his football iq. I think these results against the blitz align with that. He can see what’s coming and can anticipate where to go with the ball. May not always be pretty. Should be fun to watch the team tomorrow. Hope he continues to do what needs to be done to win.

Recognizing the defense and quick release are his biggest strengths in my opinion.

Dak was the highest-rated QB against the blitz in 2017, when he was one of the worst QBs in the league. When he sucks, which is pretty often, he’s still generally among the higher-rated passers against the blitz.

Blitz doesn’t mean pressure. Once you learn to distinguish the two, then you won’t be confused. Defenses may be blitzing, because they are trying to generate pressure out of desperation.

Great QBs are generally blitzed more selectively, otherwise their numbers would go up, because your exposing your backfield more to less defenders.
