Hill: Irving is not reporting to start of training camp

Come on, Jihad Ward.

Serious question......................

Is Irving a RKG? Previously you have defended this statement by taking the definition down to ONLY the guys joy for the game and his commitment. So is Irving still safe in your book as a RKG?

Cut him and move on, why this organization continues keeping these malcontents around is beyond me, more trouble than they're worth

I’m not sure which previous post you’re referring to, but the RKG definition has always been clear, and it’s always been the same. People try to twist it, but that’s not my problem.

As far as Irving goes, right now we know he’s got an excused absence from the start of camp tha appears to be related to his family/custody issues. I’ll wait for more info to come out before passing judgement, but generally I’d say he’s a guy with things going on that are more important than football. He’s also got a suspension history. And he’s costing himself a lot of potential money and his shot at a long term deal in Dallas as a result. That’s how it’s supposed to work.

NO there is the obvious definition of RKG and then there is the laughable version that Garrett has had to retreat to because of all the idiots they keep on the team. The same one you keep believing in. Either way, Irving meets neither of them.

But lets just keep things staying the same as always and you can continue to make excuses for ineptitude.

How many chances does this guy think he deserves , much less is going to continue to get ?

At some point it's either going to click in or you're going to remain a clueless wonder............................He's beginning to look like the latter..........

Good post, but it's not just beginning. He has been making bad decisions for several years minimum. He was suspended in college. Too much smoke around that young man for there not to be a fire.

Very nice, reasonable post and position. I'll say this though, whether the absence is excused or not, it doesn't help him out any at all.

Not going to debate the meaning of ‘RKG’ again just because you feel like working yourself up wanting to cut a player over an excused absence from training camp. Knock yourself out.

Irving will miss the first month so I could care less if he's at TC.

Doesn’t look like it, does it?

I wonder if he gets that monster contract his play might suggest he deserves from Dallas, anyway.

Or is it too soon to say?

No one knows for sure, but the Cowboys seemed to dangle him for a second with no takers. The league probably knows enough about him to pass on him for a second round tender.

That likely indicates all 31 other teams know the score on him. He went undrafted and KC exposed him to poaching. That's how little he was valued in KC. That was a big red flag right there.

And what do you imagine the excused absence is? LOL

" duh...its not my job to say". LOL

He’s costing himself a fortune in a contract year. The suspension moreso than the excused absence.

But he’s also said the media is failing to report what’s actually going on, and it looks like it’s something that the team excused and that is related to his family issues. I’ll wait to hear what it is before getting worked up in either direction. I agree that it’s yet another in a long line of distractions with this guy. And if he couldn’t play, he wouldn’t be worth the effort.

It's always something with him and he's a marginal contributor who absolutely disappears for stretches. I 100% question his commitment to playing football and think it's time for him to become someone else's headache.

See, you answered your own question!

For future reference, it’ll sound like a better answer once you learn to not say the “duh” out loud.

He’s been a good acquisition for what it cost us by any definition. If we let him walk after the season, it’s still a personnel win.

People are just angry because they want the game breaking player for free without any negatives. He’s a talented and productive head-case. Those guys get opportunities.

Yeah. I agree with all of that. The problem isn't the excused absence. It's the abysmal track record. No one would bat an eye if it was Sean Lee who hasn't ever been an issue in his entire tenure here.

If his daughter had an emergency appendectomy that's excusable. If he didn't have a nanny in place and is still looking for one, it's more of an issue.

He’s not a marginal contributor.

Is that what you do? Say duh before everything? Thats exactly how I would imagine it. LOL
