Hill not looking good. Safeties we passed on?

That’s what we should’ve done. The Chiefs has to think they won the ****** lottery when we took Bad Hair Hill.
A very athletic big guy who trumped Hill in every area, aside from Hill having a bit better 1st step. Since Saunders first step is also good, the Hill pick makes even less sense.

So how good is the cowboys drafting lately ? The busts are piling up , Taco , Trysten , Switzer , etc

Seems to me there are big issues in evaluating the draft picks .

This is incorrect. 3 sacks in his first 15 games if you include 2 playoff games. 1 sack in first 15 if you don’t...

Lawrence flashed in the playoffs as a rookie but didn’t “ball” until the 2nd half of his 2nd year. That being said, I agree that he still shouldn’t be considered a late bloomer.

Not a late bloomer. End of story.

Lol, ok. Re-Read the last line before replying next time.

Regardless of his development velocity, if you’re going to use facts/stats to back up your position, use the correct ones

You mean the last line where you said.............."yah whatever, you are right"?

Yep, read that one.

Because he's playing behind better players. Who's playing in front of thornhill in KC as it been noted Rapp has been playing spot duty
Who do we have better than Michael Brockers and Aaron Donald on the DL? o_O I mean Johnson is actually a good safety and they just traded for Jalen Ramsey. I don't think the Rams have a bad defense they have good players all over it. It's equivalency, you don't draft a guy in the 2nd round who can't beat out Collins and Crawford. Thornhill and the Ty Mathieu are getting reps at safety as the best kc duo.

I have always thought talking to former coaches should be taken with a grain of salt, they're not always objective when it comes to a player they are no longer coaching. They don't necessarily want to be seen as throwing a young kid under the bus.
Precisely. It is very rare you see that unless the kid is really just awful. This is why Marinelli's research and holding up with him in a hotel on his birthday was amusing.

Hill's issues do not seem malicious or done out of spite. He just strikes me as a kid who has been babied his whole life and he is struggling to grow up.

Who were the two highly ranked safeties we passed on in the 2nd round that dropped to us? Anyone know how these guys are doing with their respective teams this year?

The Safety the Cowboys really wanted was Abram but he was drafted at #27.
- Abram is true Strong Safety but he has range.

The Safety that would have been the pick at #58 was Thornhill.
- They had Thornhill rated as the top available Safety at #58 but he is a FS/CB type and they really wanted a true Strong Safety.
- They projected that either Safety Will Harris or CB Justin Layne had a good change to make it to their 3rd round pick.
- I'm curious if they considered Layne as a possible Safety considering he is 6-2; although, he would need to gain weight.
- Will Harris was drafted at #81 and the Cowboys had #90.

My issue with drafting Thornhill was that if they had used a 2nd on him, then they would be unlikely to use significant resources in the near future on a Strong Safety which is what they really need.

The other option was to draft a "Safe" pick at DL. They could draft a Tyrone Crawford type that has a high probably of being an OK NFL player but a low probability of being an elite player.

Side Note:
  • Last year's 2nd round pick Connor Williams played really well in the Eagles game and has been improving with each game this season.
  • He is really good at picking up stunts and blitzes and working with the OC and OT.
  • He is good at 2nd level blocking and is on a trajectory to be elite in that area.
  • Obviously CW was more developed than Hill, but CW was not really ready early last season despite starting game 1.
