I feel the DLaw is too small for the DE spot. He would more be of an OLB maybe. Williams, sorry I have to go on a tangent about Williams. He is the microcosm of what has been wrong with the McCarthy Era. How this guy is even still on the team. How can he be allowed to get penalties every single game? It is completely insane. But I digress. Can Overshown play OLB? Clark is too small I feel for the ILB in a 3-4 as well. I think it is a big overhaul that needs to happen.
Of course it's an overhaul. The defense was terrible, and this has become more than a trend. Are the pieces perfect for a full transition to the 3-4? No, of course not. Would Williams be such a knucklehead under a hard-nosed coach? I'm not so sure. He does make some bad decisions on the field, but that's mostly on special teams. When he's filling his spot on defense, he makes plays. Almost reminds me of David Irving. All the potential in the world, but needs someone to keep him accountable.
There are some pieces to work with and if BB were to take the job, the cupboard is far from empty. Adequate 3-4 linemen aren't hard to find. Pass rushers and cover corners are generally the premium positions and we have three all-pro's filling those spots, and some nice, experienced depth. This roster is filled with really good, talented players, but they lack the necessary guidance and direction to take the next step. The defense flat out gave up yesterday. It was pitiful.
I want Belichick in Dallas this week. Parcells got the ball moving but wasn't given adequate time to build his team properly. Jerry needs to lose the ego and face himself. His way hasn't worked for 30 years. Let Tuna's greatest understudy finish what he started. It's time to bring in a proven winner to unscrew the fundamental flaws that this organization has fostered over many years. A 6-time Super Bowl Champion and legend of the game is the guy to do it. Accountability and hard work need to be put front and center for the players to either embrace, or leave. Otherwise, I think my Sunday's will be more focused on getting things done. Yesterday was unacceptable and it's going to be hard cheeting on a team that refuses to even attempt to correct it's known historical flaws.
