Rewatching the game (Why I don't know), but just over a minute to go in the first half: We have pretty much dominated outside of GB's first drive; we controlled TOP; we held them to six points; we have sacked ARod three times; we are about to have them in a third and long and bam a 15 yard facemask call on Hitchens leading to a TD. This kind of thing happens too often.

**** happens. Thats not a lack of discipline penalty, thats a trying to make a play after 6 weeks off penalty
It was a killer, though.

It wasn’t smart. There were other players around to make the tackle if he missed. Total momentum changer.

Only the Williams drop was worse.

Those mistakes cost you games. Remember our comeback in the final minute at Pittsburgh last year?

We got all the breaks last year, this year we are getting none. The world is rebalancing.

Tough play. Stuff like that happens because of the way the ball carrier turned into him.

Well, I thought they rewrote that rule and ones like that should not be called at all. Maybe I am wrong, but they did away with the 5 yard and they were only supposed to call the pers. foul ones and that , to me, did not qualify as a personal foul.

Is that what they did? Or did they make all facemask penalties 15 yards?

He didn't look like he was pulling it. But I don't remember what the actual rule is at this point.

Maybe ARod converts the third and long, maybe not, but forcing a FG attempt there with shaky Crosby instead of giving up six would have been huge.

He probably thought the closet player near was Jaylon and though he HAD to make the play or it would go for a first down. I can't fault him

You could not just leave that to the Jaylon bashing thread I guess.....

At the time that this happened, I couldn't help but feel like the Hitchens facemask was the equivalent of the Switzer fumble against the Rams. Huge swing of momentum allowing the opponent to get off the ropes and right back into the game.
