We do seem to have a surplus of quality linebackers at the moment. Can't play/pay everyone.

I wouldnt say that. Any more injuries and we are toast. Lee, Durant are done, McClain really needs the bi, Wilbur is a terrible fit.

He impressed me today. But I like him as depth right now. Resign carter or Durant. If lee or another LB goes down you got 2 good depth backers in Hitchens and carter/Durant.

Injuries are always a concern. But you'll have Lee, Durant, Hitchens, Carter and McClain competing for starting roster spots next year. It's a good problem to have.

We have 2 starting backers out for the year and we still field a talented and skillful trio. That's called depth. No team would look good with all 3 starting backers out for the year.

Carter, Durant, and McClain are all free agents. I doubt we resign all three of them.

I haven't really seen anything from him that shows me he can even beat out Durant in an open competition. He's a fringe starter to me. Better than I expected.

Idk if Carter is resigned. Durant too.

So a lb corps of Lee McClain and Hitchens is pretty solid IMO.

Carter is good as gone and Durant might be back cause of his age. Not sure what will happen with McClain but best bet is he resigns a performance based deal.
If Hitchens continues his play people better get used to seeing him starting. I could definitely see Lee, McClain and Hitchens as our linebackers. I am actually a little more worried that we still haven't found a pass rushing DE but we could leave that for the next topic.

I'd like to bring back Durant honestly. It's a good fit for him here.

Hopefully Lawrence is that pass rusher. Of course we should still look for one in the draft too.

I didn't get to see the full game but from what I saw - Hitchens might be establishing himself going forward. With so many questions marks at LB this is unexpected and good news for Dallas. His 4th and 1 stand where he lifts the RB off his feet is not an average play. Its type of play that makes you a leader in a hurry. I am scrambling now to figure out how this will look once you add Lee back into mix. Look closely at Hitchens as we start to face these very physical NFC battles coming Dallas way shortly. We might be surprised by a new leader.

Lee - Will
McClain - MIke
Hitchens - Sam

I see instinct and reaction. He is faster than i thought, but not as strong as id like against blockers. He may improve, but i think he ks a quality backup right now. I have hopes flr development though. The game isnt too big for him

Can he avoid our injury curse? Every promising LB we have always ends up getting hurt - Lee, Carter, Holloman, Durant, and now McClain

Most College LBers major weakness transitioning to the NFL is the is physical weakness, the OL and FB and TE are so much bigger and stronger than they are used to at the college level. Give Hitchens a year in a S&C at the NFL level and I think he couls push for starting spot.
