It's too bad the power that be canned the search function. It would be a hoot to pull Sam and Alex's posts from last May 10-13th to revisit.

They're out there. The witty banter about Rolando McClain is amusing in retrospect, too.

Hitchens is not a liability when he is on the field. He makes about 1/2 mil per year.

Unless he sseriously regresses or morps into Matt Johnson 2.0 that's a serious win in the 4th round.

Any upside is simply playing with house money.

PS. If you are the primary back up for say Lee, McClain and Durant, you are going to be starting....ALOT.

Idk about that. I like him, but i like him as depth at the moment.

Right. I don't see how that's a bad thing. If you don't have to start the guy yet don't do it. He's cheap. He's solid. He's depth. No shame in that. Plus with this team......he'll probably be a starter due to a injury anyway.

We do seem to have a surplus of quality linebackers at the moment. Can't play/pay everyone.

IMO, none of them are worth paying. Big money anyway. McClain has injuries and been inconsistent as of late, same goes for Carter.....Lee, doesn't look like he'll be getting a riase anytime soon.

He'll be a starter next year, of that I am certain. He's our second best line backer right now and next year, with Lee healthy, he'll be our third best. He has great instincts, great vision, solid tackler and can play sideline to sideline. He's just a really solid linebacker.

If we can get McClain, Durant, and Carter back... man we would have a nice problem of too many LBs. With our line being, I believe, 1 pass rusher away from being good, that might actually make our front 7 an area of strength again... with our secondary once again being a liability.

I think Hitchens may make 1 or 2 of those guys expendable.

I think all of them will come back cheap... so... I am not overly worried about them and they will help us keep a constant good rotation. If not, Hitchens on his own will be good too.

McClain is on record he isn't signing anything until the coaches are set
Carter will probably go somewhere else mostly because he is Jekyll/Hyde and some team will love his measurables
Durant could come back but with him turning 30 and his injury history I might offer him 2-3 years to buy time.
If we didn't have so many holes on the defense i would let Durant walk with Carter and draft a another LBer, keep going young and go into the season with Lee at WLB, Ro at MLB and Hitch at SLB.
