Dez Bryant-WR- Player Mar. 16 - 11:37 am et

Oklahoma State WR Dez Bryant has pushed back his Pro Day workout again, this time to March 30.

The original date was March 25. The league begins annual meetings on March 24, and Sam Bradford's workout is March 29. Either Bryant is worried his injured hamstring won't be healed, or he's smartly making sure all NFL evaluators possible will be on hand. Either way, the continued delay is distressing. Bryant sat out both the Combine and OSU's March 10 Pro Day.

Report: Dez Bryant pushes back pro dayOklahoma State wideout will now host workout on March 30. Joe Fortenbaugh
March 16, 2010 Print This .Add a Comment .Wide receiver Dez Bryant has moved his pro day workout from March 25 to March 30, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.com.

AP
Dez Bryant
Apparently, Bryant wanted to work out on March 30 at Oklahoma State—one day after quarterback Sam Bradford hosts his pro day in Norman, Okla.—but Okie State declined, saying they’ve already held one pro day and do not want to host another.

Instead, Bryant will now work out in his hometown of Lufkin, Tex., one day before Texas Tech hosts their annual pro day.
Thats where I live too,
Although no reason has been given as to why he’s bumping his pro day back five days, many are speculating it may have something to do with the hamstring injury that prevented Bryant from working out at the combine in Indianapolis last month.

That, and the fact that the wide receiver showed up in Indy ten pounds heavier than his 2009 playing weight may have led Bryant’s camp to buy as much time as possible to get the potential first-round pick into the best shape possible before various NFL personnel get an up-close look at him.

If he falls out of the top 9-12 he has cost himself some $$$ due to various reasons. But all it takes is for one team to bite and he has not cost himself one penny. We'll find out on draft day.

I read that he didn't just "sit out" the OSU pro day... He was banned from it. Edit, wrong info.

Latest word is that he's moved his personal pro day back to April 24.

Doubt it.

He's gonna have enough to do what he wants and he can still be lazy.

I remember posters earlier this offseason say that he reminded them of Irvin. That seems way off. Irvin had a legandary work ethic. I'm always one to give talent a chance, but since I like a handful of WRs in this class a lot I'd personally pass on him. I might take Benn or Thomas over him. But then again, I'm one of the few people extremely high on Benn.

He is like Irvin in the way he catches the ball, fights for it, and plays hard on the field, but thats where the comparision stops, his work ethic off the field, practices, study film etc.. falls off.

Cowboyjoe do you know Dez Bryant??? Do you even know if these rumors are true???? If so give good sources because I would love to know where you are coming from. However, if not this is just an opinion based on rumors not a known fact.

However, I do believe that teams are frustrated because he has not worked out for scouts yet.

yes, i know some of the so called rumors your talking about, even some of our high school players now that i know, have said same thing about dez.

now on the college situation rumors, i dont know about that, because i dont live in oklahoma, but i live in lufkin texas where dez lives and will have his workout on march 30th

javorski lane, reggie mcneal were the same way, no leadership qualities and they thought the world revolved around them after high school because head coach outlaw would let them get away with things he shouldnt have. Outlaw still does the same thing today.

You may be right about him in highschool. However, I do know that Dez grew up in a bad environment and sometimes once they get away from those situations that the player changes. This situation is really a wait and see kind of deal. Some of those questions can be answered on his pro day and through interviews. The rest of the questions are going to be answered over time in the NFL. I am just not going to jump the gun and point the finger at him unless I have something that is evident because lets face it during this time rumors always pops up about top players sometimes its true but sometimes its completely false.

Again, I am not trying to point the finger at Dez and some of the players from Lufkin. I hope he is the exception, and makes it big in the NFL. He has huge huge hands, very skillful when he wants to be. Best I remember Dez said he always liked Michael Irvin, maybe if he falls enough the Cowboys can draft him. So, Michael can tutor him some. Its like Miles Austin said the other day, he really didnt bust his rear end till last year. Sometimes, players think they have all the time in the world to do what they want, and its no big deal. Yet, as a football player if you want to be the best, you have to work at it, wont be given to you on a silver platter. But at the same time, I want him to have his head on straight. Get over the past issues in his life, lack of or not doing things like he should. Sometimes you just have to grow up. I just dont want us to waste our top draft pick on a player in the first round if he isnt serious.

We all make mistakes in life, but its like i read one time, most great football players mention the great coach either that they had in high school or college that was on them 9 times out of 10, and chewed them out when they needed it and didnt let them get away with anything.

Like myself, I have made mistakes in life, probably will make a few more here and there, but its awhole lot easier if you get corrected early in your life by a mentor either your father or head coach.

The big key for dez now is how does he show up in shape, but you have to also think, why wasnt he in shape to begin with. He had no football to play after he got suspended, yet he showed up at the combine 10 pounds overweight. To me thats a red flag right there.

Sure, I am pulling for him to make it big time and possibly help the cowboys, but I want his head on straight. We have to hit on this top first round draft pick big time.

I agree with everything you just said except him being overweight and out of shape. You can tell from his sophmore year and his Jr year that he got bigger and you can deffinatly tell its all muscle. At the beginning of his JR year the team was reporting that he was 220 pounds. So its not all that suprising.
