I may be a glutton for punishment. Its a slow day though and I want to throw something out here.
Jerry made a remark about the new stadium helping the Boys win some games.
He was pretty much trashed about his comment.

The other day at the stadium I got a feeling for what he MAY have meant.

That place is so big, so shiny, so curvy, so light and open. There is glass and more glass. There are reflections and angles that you just don't see at many football stadiums.

I made this comment in another thread but I just wanted to see what the masses think. (hence my comment about being a glutton for punishment)

I understand football is won on the field, after hours of training and preparation. I understand that blocking and tackling probably won't be affected by all the shiny new glass.

I am thinking that if the Boys get comfortable with all the shine and glass and angles and reflections, not to mention what could be a very LOUD crowd, we could actually have a great home field advantage.
The kicking game and the passing game is where I am thinking the advantage MAY be particularly noticeable.
I understand the players are professionals but I can't help but feel the new
stadium MAY actually be just what Jerry said. (i don't always agree with Mr.
Jones)

So fire away, rip if you want. I even went against my grain and actually
capitalized things and tried to adhere to all the grammar HATES that were
in another thread. (off topic zone)

until fans that attend games actually get off their *** and cheer for their team like the rest of the league does, "home field advantage" will be a pipe dream for the Dallas Cowboys

that is yet to be seen, however. not saying it won't happen in the new stadium

I think it can bring an extra excitement to the fans and players. I don't believe stadiums win games players do but I think it can help to pump everyone up. It is a very impressive place.

I think the new stadium will give fans a lot to cheer about and really help the team this year

The party passes are a stroke of genius and are going to bring in an extra 20,000-25,000 fans that will be in permanent tailgating mode. Those tickets are going to attract the type of fans that will be loud and that will help negate the wine & cheese crowd effect of the expensive seats. I don't think the stadium itself is going to have any great impact on home field advantage, but the number of loud and rowdy fans on those endzone decks could bring a similar advantage that any very loud arena would bring.

I just hope the party passes don't attract opposing fans (I'm sure it will though). It would be nice if there were some way they could make sure those tickets were purchased by Cowboys fans.

The Cowboys have always had a home field advantage, as do many teams. It is always harder to win on the road than it is at home. Can this stadium be an even bigger advantage? Sure it can. Most of that depends on the crowd. I hope the crowd is deafening when we are on Defense and quiet as church when we are on Offense.

The fact that you have to hope for common sense game-day behavior from Dallas fans is the biggest indictment of all.

I've always been one to note that the Dallas crowd always seems to be docile on the boob tube...but if they can consistently show up as they did against the Eagles last year, the new stadium will be an amazing venue regardless of it's glass or architecture.

The crowd for that Eagles game was LOUD.

The Cowboys could do more to get the crowd involved IMO...send Jerry to a Washington Capitals game. Seriously.

I'm sure some will want to come see the stadium but the type of fans those tickets will attract probably won't want to shell out $300-400 for plane ticket and another $80-100 for a hotel.

That won't work. You have to send the fans in attendance. Jerry has no control over how the fans react.

I think the party passes will be a great addition but they will come with some consequences. There's gonna be a ton of people up and around at all times. I image there will probably be some body fluids scattered here and there.

Jerry should install items in the seats that shock the people in them. That would get them to make some noise...

Or use subliminal messages on the jumbo video screen...

Or put 5 hour energy drinks in all of the food and beverages...

Or install stripper poles on the sidelines for the cheerleaders...

Or Spray colorless and orderless sleeping gas into the visiting team's locker room...

Or Use laser pointers to hit the opposing QB's in the eyes...

Or use remoted controlled model sized stealth bombers to hit the balls when the QB throws them...

Or Promise a free beer if the crowd helps the team win, if not they don't get one...

Or just hope the crowd shows up to cheer loudly and hope the team shows up to play well and the rest will take care of itself.

With 100,000 packed in that stadium, I dont care what you say. It's going to be LOUD and tough on opposing teams. This will be the loudest stadium in the NFL bar none.

And the crowd CAN help a team to win a football game because that's what happened at the Steelers game. I flew up to Pittsburgh for that game and it was already a very loud atmosphere. But when Nate Washington caught that deep pass on Newman the crowd erupted even louder and it just seemed to pick the entire Steeler team up. I couldnt hear anything the rest of the game because it was so loud. I remember saying to myself when the Cowboys Offense were on the field how hard it must be for Romo to call a play in the huddle or the cadence at the L.O.S.

not that i mind the discussion of the crowd...but

i was thinking more of the architectural design of the stadium having an effect.
i have always been of the mindset that the crowd and the team need to feed
off one another.
the crowd should be loud and supportive, the team should give the crowd a reason to be excited.

I know Jerry studied Seattle's stadium, Qwest Field, which acoustically enhances the crowd noise and gives the Seahawks a distinct homefield advantage. Hopefully he tried to do the same thing with our stadium.

As far as the structure being a distraction for opponents or something, I doubt it.

Our homefield advantage will come if we get 100,000 fans in there being loud. Considering that the corporate-types probably won't be buying the $29 party passes, it might happen.

thanks Adam, i may have read that about him studying Seattles field and forgotten it.

i only started thinking this way after seeing things last saturday. they were playing madden and showing highlights on the big screen and the reflections off the glass of the suites really caught my eye. just made me wonder if on a punt or kickoff or a long pass that it might do the same to a player.

heres a photo of what i am referring to.

i dont expect it to actually win games but i am wondering if it will help or hurt or have no bearing at all.
besides i was all out of we suck/ we are going undefeated ideas !!

Perhaps he needs to study places like Philly where the fans actually react and get into the game.

well like Hostile said, Jerry can't control the fans.

i think the home crowd is getting better at being involved in the game.
i have been to every home game the last few years and its getting louder.
now if we could just get them to STHU when we are on offense !!

I am not getting these jabs at our crowds/fans at the stadium....

I am a season ticket holder and attend most games and our attendance, fans, and crowd noise is just fine. And will even be better at the new stadium.
