well like Hostile said, Jerry can't control the fans.

i think the home crowd is getting better at being involved in the game.
i have been to every home game the last few years and its getting louder.
now if we could just get them to STHU when we are on offense !!
I guess some people think the fans got quiet after Jerry arrived or something.

The fact is Cowboys games have always been considered one of the quieter venues in the NFL even back to Cotton Bowl days. In fact after JFKs assassination many of the 1960's players noted that there was an audible difference in the fans at the Cotton Bowl, almost like they felt the guilt of the city.

Fans who go to the games insist it is not quiet there and it isn't, but in comparison to other venues like Cleveland, Philly, Denver, etc. it is quieter.

I think its going to be a advantage. If the roof is closed(i think it will be closed on most games)the noise is going to be deafening eith 100.000 fans in there. It will defintely help Buehler with his kickoffs and long field goals too.It might also help our big o-line if the temperature is controlled early on in the season.

Excellent Points. Couldnt agree more.

Perhaps he needs to study places like Philly where the fans actually react and get into the game.

I take it you've never been to a game at Qwest. The Seattle fans might be the loudest in the league right now, at least when the Seahawks are halfway good.

That won't work. You have to send the fans in attendance. Jerry has no control over how the fans react.

That's kind of my point. Jerry could take some lessons from Ted Leonsis (IMO, the best owner is sports) when it comes to rebuilding and reinvigorating a fan base. Selecting Alex Ovechkin certainly helped but the Capitals fan base has been transformed into one of the league's most active crowds in the sport, and the way they use the stadium, it's big screen, the sound system, and to a degree himself, the coaches, and the players themselves....plays a huge part in their recent success.

I've never seen a professional sports team's fans that in tune with a game and the game's environment. The "Rock the Red" program that Leonsis started has been pure genius....and simple too.

The difference has been night and day over the last four years....and Washington isn't exactly known for being a hockey town.

I am not getting these jabs at our crowds/fans at the stadium....

I am a season ticket holder and attend most games and our attendance, fans, and crowd noise is just fine. And will even be better at the new stadium.

Stop beating your head against the wall bro, friendly advice.

The "Dallas fans suck" crowd, are deeply ensconced in their belief that TS was a tomb on game day, even though 99.99% of them have never set foot in the stadium.

I went to Texas Stadium last season for the last skins-cowboys game ever in that place. I've also been to the meadowlands and Ralph Wilson stadium(I was at the cowboy comeback in 07). the Meadowlands is by far the loudest i've been too. Ralph Wilson is 2nd and Texas stadium was the quietest by far. I do think part of it was that Texas Stadium seats so much less than most stadiums though.

No doubt TS can be a bit docile at times, but I've rarely been to a game I didn't leave hoarse and not just from yelling at the field, more so from trying to carry on a conversation w/ those around me.

I just get tired of being told what it's like by those that have never been there, and/or hearing some BS story about how someone was threatened in the parking lot, by our own fans mind you, because they painted their face.

Puhhhleeez!!

yeah Cowboy fans are very nice people in Texas. when I went they would joke and have friendly trash talk with the skins fans but they were never disrespectful when i was there.

I would certainly think the extra glass surfaces would reflect more sound.. although there is a much larger volume of space to fill .. but I wonder if the video board will actually reflect the sound even more and possible down onto the field a bit. I've also been very curious as to the effects the sliding doors will have on the on field wind and if they will have any effect on field goals. Are the plans to have the doors open or closed for games? Also does anyone have any pictures of how sun effects the stadium yet? It played a pretty big factor in the old one.

One thing I think will help some, is the climate inside the new stadium, especially in the early fall. Texas Stadium felt like being in a sauna, and when they added the suites, it killed most if not all of the air movement in the stadium. This has some effect on people, especially the older, and very young crowds.

I went to the Cowboys vs Giants home opener season before last, and by the end of the first quarter, it was so hot in there, that most of the people were sitting down (giants fans included), fanning themselves, trying to cool off, vs cheering. Plus, it didn't help that water was like 4-5 bucks for a little bottle. I had a few New Yorkers sitting behind me comment on it also. That shouldn't be a problem with the new stadium..

I know Jerry studied Seattle's stadium, Qwest Field, which acoustically enhances the crowd noise and gives the Seahawks a distinct homefield advantage. Hopefully he tried to do the same thing with our stadium.
Right, I remember reading that about Jerry looking at Qwest... Isn't the key that Qwest -- like the old RFK -- has the upper deck almost stacked on top of the lower seats, more "over" the field, so to speak?

But I think that was before plans were even finished, so I don't know if they really incorporated that feature or not.

i've been to about 6 games at TS. the fans at TS could be loud but in general are not rabid football fans. i've been to games in DC, NYC, TB and SF. the fans at TS are a bit tame (which isn't always bad) in comparison. there is plenty of noise but my problem are the fans that ask you not to stand and additionally don't know to not make noise when we are on offense. this isn't everyone in the stadium, but it's more than any of the ones i've been to. in general you seem to get more social fans at TS compared to the diehard fan. this is evidence IMO by how season tickets are only sold out when the cowboys are winning. I lived in dallas from 03 to 04 and season tickets were always unlike many other teams that have waiting lists...

i havent even considered the temperature factor.
the early season games were usually brutal and people would spend a lot of time doing what you said.

as far as the sun question in another post, i was in there from 1 till 4 pm on a sunny day, i did look up at the roof and it was not bright to the point that i couldnt see. it does look eerily like Texas Stadium when you look up.

Yeah, even though I made myself sick yelling, and standing the entire game, there were times I wish TS was an open roof venue like the Cotton Bowl. At least the air wouldn't be so stagnant.

BTW, nice photo Poke.

It does resemble the old stadium, doesn't it.

Just in general, I think people in this part of the country are a bit more laid back than those in the northeast where the supposed most "rabid" fans are. It doesn't really have anything to do with the quality of fan, but more with just how it is down here.

Seriously? Seattle is a pretty laid back place and folks are saying they've got the loudest fans.

No, it's the acoustically designed roof over the seats in the upper deck. The sound is redirected back into the stadium. Paul Allen wanted Qwest Field to be as loud as the Kingdome was in its heyday, so he had acoustic experts design the roof to maximize the sound reverberations.
