Hos #1 Meachem pick is out of shape--whaz up?

Next year we must evaluate our NEEDs vs what is available and be very careful. Not take the POPULAR pick, or one that sounds good. To me we should take the guy that has the most upside, and the least downside.

Meachem to have medial meniscus in right knee examined

Associated Press

Updated: June 4, 2007, 1:33 PM ET

METAIRIE, La. -- Saints first round draft pick Robert Meachem needs to have his right knee examined for a potential medial meniscus problem after he missed practices Sunday and Monday.
Head coach Sean Payton said after Monday's practice that the Saints knew about a possible minor meniscus problem before they drafted the former standout receiver at Tennessee 27th overall.
"After his exam I'll know a little bit more, but it started to get to the point where it was hampering him [Sunday afternoon] running," Payton said. "We backed him off yesterday and the same way this morning."
Meachem also missed portions of rookie camp the weekend after the draft when he sprained his left ankle.

As a Vol fan, I wanted Meachem but happy the Cowboys didn't take him. Meachem may not play during the preseason.

Accoring to Mosley, sources say Saints first-round draft pick Robert Meachem will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his knee Tuesday morning and will be out 3-4 weeks.

He'll flourish in that offense, the NFC will rue the day that the Texans passed on Reggie Bush. That offense is going to revolve around him explosiveness for years to come, and Brees' consistency accompanied by a big, physical, and very young receiving core are going to cause problems for any defense for years to come.

Ahhhh...............we haven't "rued" around here in quite a while. ;)

+1 for the rue.

Reggie bush and now Devin Hester if he pans out are both going to be a royal pain.

Yeah. Immenient rueage.

Yes it's a made up word I stole from Twister.

Sidney Rice will be better....

agreed...he dominated the SEC last year.

One funny thing about all the McFadden hype is that Marcus Monk is going totally under the radar...watch out for him though he will be at least a second if not a first round pick next year.
