Hos and others: How realistic is John Fox as new DC next year?

Hopefully real realistic. I like the guy as Garrett's Def. Coordinator, but will Red OK that? What do some of the 'gurus' on this board think? Is this probable or just wishful thinking?

No idea. Might depend on whether some network offers him a broadcasting contract or whether some team makes a better offer than Jerry does or whether he wants to take some time off after the pressure of head coaching or whether he wants to work for Jerry or whether he likes the Cowboys' defensive personnel.

He seems like a lock to be released by the Panthers, and he's got the defensive credentials. But there's just no way to know what Fox will want to do after that happens.

He was a very good Def Cood with the Giants before he joined Carolina
and they run a 3-4 Def , so I would be good with this selection.

I have no idea how Garrett would feel about it.

I am not in the "guru" loop !

But I remember his Giant defensive squads. VERY impressive.

Happens all the time , Campo , Capers, Haslett to name a few on the defensive side of the ball.

I'm with you BIG time choc lab....I think it's DELUSIONAL to think this guy will be a HC next year. Gosh guys: get this straight please: 1-15 head coaches DON"T get hired for new jobs. PERIOD.

Not too many coaches go from 1-15 to a new head coaching job. In fact, I doubt if any have ever done so at the collegiate or professional level. But, I could be wrong.

He is one of 4 names I have heard. The others are Pasqualoni, Capers, and Al Groh (John Garrett coached with him at UVA).

Personally I would be ecstatic if we landed fox as a coordinator.

the only downside would be it would be temporary like possibly a season.

I wouldnt have any problem with them hiring him, making a number of changes on defense through the draft and in free agency.

If garrett gets an experienced DC and OC around him to go with Joe D we would be in really good shape.

I would love to see either John Fox or Dom Capers as our DC next season but I don't think the decision will be up to Jason Garrett, Jerry makes the coaching hires in case anyone forgot.

PP is definitely NOT DC material and needs to be replaced after the season. Campo needs to go as well, in fact should never have been brought back in the first place.

I wouldn't. He has got to know that HC positions just are not going to be coming his way in 2011 if he is released after this season and will accept a high profile DC job with the Boys as a stepping-stone to another HC position in a few years.

Personally, I would be happy with Fox as our HC but I'd like to see what Garrett has first.
