Hos and others: How realistic is John Fox as new DC next year?

Two different people have told me his deal was 2 years. At year's end he is a Free Agent Coach.

I cannot find nor confirm his deal length though.

I found an article by Chris Mortensen that indicated a two contract. Though it didn't mention the contract specifically. It said the Dolphins were paying year 1, $2.9 million for 2009 and that the Packers were paying around $2 million in 2010.

I'm betting if that is correct JG's list has Capers at the top. He tried to get him here for 2007.

As for OC I know I'd put money on another coach that's already been considered for a role at VR a few years back.

I just hope they're the list that Jerry has from JG. As these guys already had contact with VR in the past then perhaps they're the first choices?

Bring in one or two others and draft a couple from the Great Wall.

Did I miss something? Kotite went 1-15 in his last season as the Jets HC and has never coached in any capacity anywhere since.

The only thing I like about bringing in a guy like John Fox is that he probably won't be offered another head coaching opportunity.
To me, I want some fresh blood. Enough of the retreads. Capers????? Wasn't this guy caught sleeping during a game? This is who we want?

He was a very good Def Cood with the Giants before he joined Carolina
and they run a 3-4 Def , so I would be good with this selection.

I have no idea how Garrett would feel about it.

I am not in the "guru" loop !

You're wrong they run a 4-3 always have under Fox. remember Peppers wanted to play in a 3-4 it was one of his reasons for leaving.

I know it happens. What I was trying to say is, Fox sees himself as a head coach. I'd be shocked if he took a assistant's job.

Fox can see himself as a HC all he wants but after his won loss record this year , I just dont see him being offered a HC job...

His best bet is to become a successful Def Cood again for a few years to rebuild his reputation. He then might get another shot at a HC gig.

Fox will be a HC some where. Maybe not next year, but soon. What I would like is Paul Chryst as OC and Marvin Lewis/Dom Capers as DC

Hopefully real realistic. I like the guy as Garrett's Def. Coordinator, but will Red OK that? What do some of the 'gurus' on this board think? Is this probable or just wishful thinking?

can he coach 3-4? or if he comes will we move to a 4-3? I wouldn't be surprised for us to make a move to 4-3 and run some hybrid 3-4.

we could have brent and rat at DT. Bowen, Hatcher and Ware at DE.

igor can play some DT as a rotation guy.

Spencer could be SOLB, James the MLB and Lee the WLB.

the secondary would still need a couple of safties.

that same group can also play 3-4 by having ware play with his hands off the ground and line up as a 3-4 outside backer and move lee to ILB position.

wouldn't be that difficult for us to make a transition other than getting use to a new scheme.

What are some of the up and coming DCs? Has anybody heard anything about Keith Butler (Pittsburgh LB coach)? He's been studying under Lebleu for awhile. Surely he's learned a few things. I want a DC that has a killer instinct! I'm tired of having to score 30 points to win! Are there any other position coaches out there that be have been an under study to a defensive mastermind that is worth looking into?
