Hos and others: How realistic is John Fox as new DC next year?

we know hes not returing to carolina and like others have said who is realistically going to hire a coach with a 1-13 record thus far to coach their team?

so i say our shot if were interested is good. i want capers first, then fox. if neither then nolan will be win.

Hey. A fella can dream, right? :D

He is one of 4 names I have heard. The others are Pasqualoni, Capers, and Al Groh (John Garrett coached with him at UVA).

What are the odds of getting Capers? He is already a DC, why jump the packers ship for us?

Under Coach P we have not stopped teams from scoring. Certainly if he leaves, Bring in Foxx, If he wants to stay, maybe say no and bring in Foxx.

Ugh. Two of those three are :ralph:

I know you include Capers on that list, but I feel the same way about EVERY name on that list EXCEPT for Capers. :D

Not sure why there is so much love for Fox, his defenses are good but never elite, even when he was with the Giants. Spagnuolo had much more impressive defenses for the Giants.

If Cowboys are going back to 4-3, then I would rather bring back Butch Davis.

Dennis Thurman or Dom Capers are still my first choices however.

Want to make a bet Groh gets the job?

Groh is pretty intriguing. I know his stock was really on the rise and the he got the UVA job and blew it. But being an HC in college is a lot different than being a DC in the pros.

doesn't Groh run a hybrid 3/4-4/3 like rex???

He runs a hybrid but nothing like Rex's. Plays a base 2 gapping 3-4. His Ds get scored on too, a LOT.

yeah thats it. He would do well. Being a UVA fan its hard to look at that uva can't get the players to do it and the good players played well.

Hell no to Groh. :puke:

It's going to be a big negative for Garrett if we only choose from the small pool of people he and his brother know. A JAG shouldn't get to be the DC of the Cowboys just because he coached the new HC's brother.

Geez... At least go with Marvin Lewis. Hell, I'd rather have Zimmer than Groh.

No, I don't think Groh will be a serious candidate. But Lewis? Hmmmmm....that's intriguing. Off the top of my head I'd rate the candidates as follows: 1) Fox 2) Nolan 3) Lewis......but time will tell.

Two different people have told me his deal was 2 years. At year's end he is a Free Agent Coach.

I cannot find nor confirm his deal length though.

No idea. Might depend on whether some network offers him a broadcasting contract or whether some team makes a better offer than Jerry does or whether he wants to take some time off after the pressure of head coaching or whether he wants to work for Jerry or whether he likes the Cowboys' defensive personnel.

He seems like a lock to be released by the Panthers, and he's got the defensive credentials. But there's just no way to know what Fox will want to do after that happens.

Glazer from foxsports reported that if Fox was let go from Carolina it would have been a good bet that Fox would get a chance as Dallas's new HC. This of course was reported when Wade was still HC. He stated that Fox and Jones are very good friends and that Jones admired Fox as a coach.

If he doesn't get an offer next year as a HC, it could be a possibility that he comes in as a DC.

I think he is a good coach. His owner is not doing him any favors by not signing or spending money on players.

Groh will be 67 at seasons start

might as well bring in LeBeau

if we going for old decrepped look

Thanks for clearing this up because I was wondering the same thing regarding Capers and the Packers.
